El día de hoy tenemos al señor Gustavo Nieto Roa quien es de Colombia productor y director de cine y

placer es nuestro porque vamos a saber un poco de su carrera artística No porque es prácticamente

es artística la carrera en donde mucha hay mucha creatividad Dígame cuándo empezó usted En

qué año empezó usted Bueno yo empecé mis actividades cinematográficas desde que era un niño Desde que vi

mi primera película a los cuatro años de edad mi mamá me llevó a una sala de cine a ver

una película Cuando yo salí de allí le pregunté a mi mamá cómo hacían eso Y

yo Ella me dijo No sé mi hijito Eso lo hacen por allá en Hollywood en

Estados Unidos Entonces yo le dije Mami yo quiero hacer eso cuando grande y como en mi pueblo no

había sino una sola sala de cine nada más Yo me preguntaba cómo será que uno puede hacer esas cosas

aquí en el pueblo y comencé a investigar y me di cuenta que había que comenzar con la fotografía Entonces

fui al fotógrafo local y le pedí que me enseñara fotografía Y ahí comencé a

estudiar todo lo que tiene que ver con el revelado con con cómo tomar buenas fotos y me convertí en

un fotógrafo también Yo sabía que para el cine había que contar historias Entonces busqué

a mi profesor de literatura en el colegio y le pregunté cómo era que se escribía

una historia y con él terminamos haciendo un periódico en el que semanalmente yo escribía y contaba historias

y también otros alumnos del colegio Pero también yo me di cuenta que el cine es sonido y

en mi pueblo lo que más se parecía al sonido de una película era la radio Entonces me fui

a la radio y pregunté que me dejaran conocer los estudios Y el dueño muy amablemente me

preguntó que si a mí me interesaría ser locutor y me puso a leer una nota y yo lo hice

Yo apenas tenía catorce años y él me dijo listo le doy un trabajo de locutor

y así yo comencé con la locución y poco a poco me fui metiendo dentro del cine Cuando

ya salí graduado del colegio en Bachillerato conocí a un productor de cine norteamericano que estaba aquí en Colombia haciendo

una película y él me contrató como su asistente por hablar inglés y me ayudó a ir a Estados

Unidos Y fui trabajé estudié en New York University Luego vino el ejército americano y

era la guerra de Vietnam Entonces me dijeron o usted se va al ejército o

se regresa a su país Y pregunté Y qué me van a poner a hacer allá en el ejército No

Y me dijeron No qué está estudiando Yo dije estoy estudiando producción de cine Y entonces me

dijeron No le vamos a dar una cámara Y enseguida firmé y me fui al

ejército y comencé a hacer en el ejército películas de entrenamiento para el ejército Y

salí del ejército y y un amigo trabajaba en Naciones Unidas en Nueva York y él

me presentó a sus jefes y me dieron un trabajo como locutor de Naciones Unidas en español

para América Latina Y ahí yo les demostré que yo sabía de cine sabía cómo producir una

película y entonces me pasaron a la división de cine y me comenzaron a mandar alrededor

del mundo Y en diez años que estuve con Naciones Unidas recorrí el mundo entero Hice más de cuarenta

documentales sobre toda clase de temas relacionados con las actividades de Naciones Unidas y un día

decidí que yo quería regresar a Colombia a mi país y hacer películas de ficción

Y renuncié Me vine a Colombia y comencé a hacer películas y hasta el momento he hecho cerca de veinte

veintiuno películas de largometraje He producido y dirigido muchísimos cortometrajes cientos He producido y dirigido telenovelas miniseries de televisión y

bueno ahora estoy trabajando en una película que estamos desarrollando Acabamos de hacer la filmación el

rodaje la semana pasada Ahora estamos en postproducción y para diciembre de este año vamos a estrenarla en

salas de cine y luego se presentará en plataformas como Netflix como Amazon como HBO y como

tantas otras Entonces eso es más o menos rápidamente un poquito mi trayectoria hasta el momento Aquí en Venezuela

también se ve Hispan cuando eres latino y vienes de otros países y tienes un

estamos haciendo en este momento Y y la tecnología pues facilita la comunicación y ha convertido al mundo

en que vivimos Como decía Omaha Mcc Collen que somos una un pueblito no El mundo

entero a la hora de la verdad es un pueblito porque todos nos podemos comunicar

instantáneamente como lo estamos haciendo hoy en día Claro es cierto Muchas de las tecnologías lo

que han hecho es de que al ser de este mundo globalizado prácticamente una gran villa un gran pueblito

en donde la donde la gente se comunica inmediatamente y se sabe qué es lo que está pasando alrededor

del mundo Dígame con respecto a su película cuál es el título de la película que está haciendo ahora

último Bueno mira estoy haciendo una película y esto es una primicia Realmente espero que no

Que no salga del Canadá porque es un tema bastante en este momento Aquí aquí en Colombia es la tal

vez allá en Canadá se difundió la noticia de cuatro niños El menor tenía un año y la

mayor tenía trece años que sobrevivieron al accidente de una avioneta que cayó en la mitad

del Amazonas de la selva amazónica y sobrevivieron al accidente y fueron encontrados veinte cuarenta cuarenta días

después vivos Eso es todo un acontecimiento Y hasta este momento no hay explicación alguna oficial de cómo estos

niños lograron sobrevivir cuarenta días Entonces en base a esa historia esa noticia desarrollamos una historia de

ficción inspirada en ese acontecimiento y es la que estamos desarrollando en este momento que se

titula Cuarenta días perdidos en la selva Caramba Qué interesante Realmente han habido casos como éste en Perú

Me acuerdo que hubo el caso de una chica que estaba viajando en la avioneta También con su mamá Murieron

Bueno murió el piloto la mamá Pero ella sobrevivió en la selva no Y bueno después la encontraron

después de unas semanas Y bueno felizmente que la selva muchas veces ayuda como si fuera

un amortiguador Los árboles todo lo que viene a ser la jungla no Y permite de

que una persona que cree a gran altura prácticamente estos árboles le ayudaron a amortiguar la

caída No Ahora con respecto con respecto a esta película cuánto tiempo piensa que usted la va a terminar Cuándo

piensa que la va a terminar No Bueno necesitamos terminarla muy pronto porque la gente no

solamente aquí en Colombia sino alrededor del mundo está a la expectativa de conocer y de saber más sobre

esos niños Y ya tengo un acuerdo con los exhibidores cinematográficos para estrenar esta película el veinticinco

de diciembre aquí en Colombia en salas de cine Ya Y con respecto a me imagino que

deben estar utilizando un sistema con el cual les permita a ustedes convertir estas grabaciones que

está haciendo a través del teléfono que parezca film no Qué sistema están utilizando para

que suceda esto que aparezca como si fuera film Bueno hoy en día los teléfonos vienen con

una calidad de imagen que se mide en pixeles Y las las salas de cine que proyectan películas las proyectan

a dos mil píxeles que son se les dice dos K No pero estos celulares como

este que tengo aquí en mi mano graban el doble de calidad a cuatro k o sea a

cuatro mil píxeles Y esa es una calidad de imagen extraordinaria que cuando la gente la va

a ver en una sala de cine no sabe no sabe con qué clase de

cámara se hizo Además a la gente al público no le importa con qué cámara con qué

cámara se hizo Lo que le importa es lo que ve Y la historia que está presentando

es cierto Bueno muchas de las personas a veces no saben con qué se ha hecho la producción y ah

y realmente bueno la tecnología ha avanzado tanto como es el caso de hoy día que

usted estando en Colombia y yo aquí en Canadá nos podemos comunicar fácilmente No es

va ilegalmente a Estados Unidos con la idea de quedarse allá conseguir trabajo y y bueno

y qué hace No disfrutando del sueño americano Esa película la filmamos en Nueva York en

Los Ángeles en Las Vegas y fue un suceso de público impresionante en salas de cine Fue vista por más

de cinco millones de personas en América Latina Se ha mostrado en las televisiones muchas veces ahora

la pasan en Hay un canal que se llama cine latino que la pasa con frecuencia Entonces yo diría que

siendo colombiano Pero me he movido en el ámbito de América Latina haciendo películas ya

Qué bien Ahora con respecto a lo que vine a hacer porque bueno el mercado

prácticamente realmente quien domina el mercado es vienen a hacer el mercado americano en cuanto a películas tiene un sistema

de distribución pero increíble No solamente es el hecho de las películas sino en la

forma cómo distribuyen sus películas alrededor del mundo Usted cómo ve el mercado latino con respecto

a esto A la distribución de sus contenidos alrededor del mundo No Bueno mira el cine en el

mundo entero está dominado como tu acabas de decir por Hollywood por toda una infraestructura de distribución

y de exhibición en que los norteamericanos los estudios de Hollywood son los dueños de las salas de cine

Son los dueños de las empresas que las distribuyen y son los dueños de la producción Pero

ellos saben que en cada país ejemplo Canadá no La gente quiere ver sus propias producciones Quiere

ver sus propias películas y entonces le abren un espacio a esas producciones en cada país

Y realmente uno tiene que estar aliado con esas productoras norteamericanas con esa infraestructura de distribución y

exhibición para que las películas de uno se puedan exhibir comercialmente al lado de las películas Grandes películas

norteamericanas claro Bueno realmente ellos como siempre van a utilizar lo que siempre han utilizado en todos todo

tipo de industria de industria que viene a ser lo que viene a ser monopolizar el control de todo no

desde el momento que se crea el proceso de llevar la película y luego de distribuirla Ellos tienen ese control

Ahora con respecto a lo que viene a ser actores latinos hay algunos que han triunfado en Estados

Unidos y han llegado a poner un buen nombre Pero no hay muchos directores y productores allá latinos

que estén destacando en Hollywood Bueno hay hay directores mexicanos mexicanos ciento por ciento que hoy

en día son reconocidos como grandes grandes directores en México Ahora ahora no recuerdo los nombres

de ellos pero hay como cinco o seis mexicanos que están haciendo grandes producciones en

Hollywood También hay por ejemplo un director brasileño que se llama Fernando Miralles que también

está haciendo películas en Hollywood de Argentina también hay Hay algunos directores que están allá en Hollywood y

ahora colombianos Hay un colombiano que se llama Sergio Dao que acaba de hacer una

película que se llama La piel del tambor hecha en Europa en España en una coproducción

con Estados Unidos y Colombia O sea que sí hay espacio pero es un espacio pa que hay

que pelearlo hay que pelearlo Hay que demostrar un talento muy muy grande para poder llegar a a esas posiciones

Ahora con respecto a productores colombianos tengo entendido también que usted también ha enseñado o enseña creo en en algún

lugar allí en Colombia en alguna de las universidades No Bueno yo he sido profesor de la

Universidad Javeriana que es una de las principales universidades aquí en Bogotá y en Colombia y me

han solicitado también me han pedido que me dedique a la enseñanza pero yo quiero estar más

en el campo activo de la producción y eso me ha impedido que acepte esas

invitaciones Pero tengo una actividad que desarrollamos muy en grande y es que es el doblaje

Nosotros hacemos doblaje de películas del inglés o de cualquier idioma al español pero también lo hacemos al portugués

y y también lo hacemos al inglés Entonces tenemos estudios de doblaje para el inglés en Miami para

el español en México y en Bogotá y para el portugués en Sao Paulo y Río de Janeiro

Y tenemos unas academias donde enseñamos a la gente cómo doblar porque cuando se dobla una película hay que crear

la ilusión de que originalmente el actor está hablando en el idioma que se está escuchando

y eso es una técnica muy especial que requiere una gran formación y una gran disciplina

Y nosotros pues enseñamos y tenemos hoy en día un banco de más de mil voces entre niños

jóvenes adultos viejos no Y cuando la gente ve las películas de Netflix las películas de Amazon las películas de

HBO pues muchas de esas películas están hechas por nosotros en en Colombia o en Brasil

o en México o cuando se hacen del alemán al inglés o del chino al inglés japonés

persona Es capaz de reproducir la imagen y hacer que esa imagen parezca como el

personaje original No Así es Y eso eso es otra gran revolución y la gente está muy preocupada y

yo también estoy preocupado pero en el sentido positivo de cómo aprovechamos esa tecnología para ponerla al servicio de

la creatividad que desarrollamos de las comunicaciones No es cierto Ahora con respecto a lo que viene a ser

claro yo he visto que la gente bueno se ha visto Pero a veces sucede

que el avance de la tecnología lo que va lo que va a hacer es de que muchas de

estas personas van a tener que acomodarse y adaptarse al momento Y luego va a pasar otras cosas

donde ellos van a tener que superar Bueno ciertas tecnologías como ésta para poder ser

más originales porque realmente va a suceder como lo que pasó en todo el mundo con Uber

no Uber prácticamente revolucionó lo que viene a ser el taxi El servicio de taxi en

donde mucha gente dejó bueno ya de ya no era una exclusividad de un grupo

sino que ahora con Uber cualquiera puede dar ese servicio y solamente con una aplicación no

pueden ser llamados para que presten el servicio No Dígame con respecto a lo que

viene a ser sus novelas a usted que ha trabajado en novelas con qué canales de televisión ha

trabajado en Colombia Bueno yo he trabajado con Caracol Televisión con RCN Televisión he trabajado con Televisa en México he

trabajado con globo de televisión en Brasil y fui el fundador de la producción original

de Ecuavisa en Ecuador donde hace ya veinte años hace cinco años formando la gente haciendo telenovelas haciendo series

de televisión para el mercado no solamente ecuatoriano sino hispanoamericano Entonces yo realmente me siento muy afortunado de

haber tenido un recorrido tanto en el campo del cine como en el campo de la televisión durante todos todos

Sitcoms para televisión No pero sí he hecho películas de humor Tengo el récord de taquilla con una película de

humor en español que se llama El taxista millonario Es la película más más vista en salas de cine por

encima de cualquier película de Hollywood y es una es una comedia también otra comedia que dice que fue también

un gran gran suceso Se llama esposos en vacaciones y y otras comedias también como

la del inmigrante latino No Entonces estas comedias en películas aunque ya tienen sus años se siguen repitiendo y repitiendo

y se han convertido en clásicos del cine y y de la televisión Entonces este año por

ejemplo Señal Colombia que es el canal público de la televisión colombiana que pertenece al Estado

va para noviembre Va a sacar un ciclo con mis películas de hace cuarenta treinta

a ser este eh la política que a veces se llevan a cabo los gobiernos Usted cree que

es importante que se proteja mucho a lo que es producción nacional en este caso Colombia a

través de Gustavo Prieto Sí claro es es es es muy importante porque si no hay unas leyes

de protección pues la gente local no puede competir con los grandes Grandes estudios de Hollywood Colombia Hoy en

día todos los países de América Latina tienen leyes de protección a la producción original en sus países

Aquí en Colombia el gobierno por ejemplo le devuelve el cuarenta por ciento a los inversionistas que pongan

su plata en una producción de cine nacional que Colombia le paga a los exhibidores de cine un un porcentaje

del valor de la boleta por exhibir películas colombianas Y eso ha permitido que los exhibidores internacionales que

son norteamericanos pues le presten atención también al cine local Qué bien Bueno en Perú pasó algo

parecido en mil novecientos sesenta setenta prácticamente cuando el gobierno de Velasco Alvarado tomó bueno los

medios de comunicación y resulta que dio leyes para la producción nacional y lo cual incentivó la producción nacional

que muchas veces inclusive producciones que se hicieron en el país Compitieron con películas hechas en Hollywood y bueno

y el rating era superior muchas veces a lo que porque la gente se veía representada en

en esas comedias en esos programas cómicos y dejaban de ver películas de Hollywood Increíble Pero eso fue lo

que pasó en Perú Y es importante que el Gobierno esté detrás para proteger lo que viene

a ser producción local Porque es importante saber de que las personas necesitan verse en la televisión representadas por

sus actores ahí en la televisión Cosas que no lo hace Hollywood porque no va a poder abarcar todo

no Y hace hace veinte años la televisión de América Latina consistía en pasar producciones de Hollywood y

hoy en día en cualquier país de América Latina el noventa por ciento son producciones locales son telenovelas

son sitcoms son programas de entretenimiento locales y ya las producciones norteamericanas apenas ocupan por ejemplo

en aquí en Colombia un diez por ciento Todo lo demás está hecho aquí en Colombia Pero

hace veinte años el gobierno tuvo que hacer leyes que incentivan la producción de televisión local para que se

fuera creando toda una una producción industrial al respecto claro y sobre todo que con respecto a lo

que viene a ser este los jóvenes que necesitan muchos son egresados de las universidades y donde han aprendido este

arte y necesitan bueno prácticamente trabajar en este tipo de arte No prácticamente con haciendo películas ellos se sentirían más

representados en cuanto a poder producir cosas nacionales No Claro obvio no El año pasado

sólo en Colombia se hicieron cincuenta y dos películas de largometraje Eso ya es una gran producción En México

se hicieron casi doscientos películas mexicanas En Brasil se hicieron aproximadamente ciento sesenta películas y y son películas que llaman

mucho la atención de los de la población local No claro lo que acabas de decir El público se siente

identificado con sus actores con sus actrices con sus historias Así es sobre todo no sé si usted se

acuerda Hubo la época de oro del cine argentino la época de oro del cine mexicano

en donde prácticamente se distribuía en toda Latinoamérica este tipo de producción Luego vino un avance

de lo que viene a ser Hollywood con sus películas extraordinaria fantástica Cleopatra Ben Court y todo

esto que prácticamente copó los mercados Pero realmente está demostrado que si se hace una buena producción nacional y local

puede llegar a otros mercados y prácticamente a a prosperar Mejorar no En cuanto a

lo que es producción no Sí claro El problema es que el cine es un acto
