Welcome to the Believers Bible Assembly This is the day that the Lord has made and we're going to

rejoice and be glad in it Open your Bibles to 1 Corinthians chapter 2 verses 14

and 15 And it reads the natural man does not accept the things that come

from the Spirit of God for they are foolishness to him and he cannot understand

them because they are spiritually discerned Today we will continue our teaching series on the spirit-led life The last time

we were together we talked about the tripartite man the three dimensions of man spirit soul and body And we

began to talk about the three categories of man We talked about the natural man who's

lost who's eternally separated from God And we talked about the cardinal man He's born again but he's still talking

like acting like thinking like the world He is spiritually immature But today our focus will be on the

third category the spiritual man the believer the real you In this lesson we will

examine three spiritual benefits of the spirit-led believer wisdom discernment and the spiritual mind So let's get into our teaching

this morning and I want to start with the spiritual man the spiritual believer the real you

Now the spiritual man is spiritually minded He's spiritually maturing Not perfect haven't arrived but he or she is spiritually

maturing They're maturing daily in their faith walk with Jesus Christ and that's where you and I are We

are spiritually minded meaning our minds are focused our minds are stayed on the things of Christ

We're spiritually maturing We're growing in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ We

have not reached perfection and like I said before as long as we're in these earth suits

we never will We will never reach perfection here in this life but we're spiritually maturing we're spiritually

growing we're putting off the old and putting on the new and this is our daily faith walk with Christ

The spiritual man refers to an individual who is led by the Holy Spirit and exhibits characteristics

that align with the teachings of the Christian faith Now I'll put emphasis on exhibits characteristics because a lot of

people claim they are spiritual But they do not exhibit any characteristics in their life

proof evidence that their life aligns with the teaching of the Bible the teachings of the Christian faith

But the spiritual man has evidence in their life The spiritual man is being led by the Holy Spirit The

spiritual man is growing He's not the same He's daily putting out the old and

putting on the new He has a new walk he has a new talk He has a new mindset of

life The old things they used to do they don't want to do no more They don't

even have a desire to do anymore and that's because they're walking by the spirit and not the flesh And

when you walk by the spirit and not the flesh God will manifest in your life three spiritual

benefits wisdom discernment and the spiritual mind Let's talk about wisdom 1 Corinthians chapter 2 verse

from God that we might know Underline that in your Bible the things freely given to

us by God God is the source of all wisdom and God has given us the Holy

Spirit whose job it is to impart that wisdom to us The Spirit's job is to open

our eyes to illuminate the truth of God's word to us John chapter 16 verse 13 says that

the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth not some truth but all truth That's his job if

you're seeking spiritual wisdom if you're seeking the things that are freely given to us by God Now

this spiritual wisdom is not something that you can earn or learn but it is something that is

freely given imparted by God through His Spirit if you ask Him James chapter 1 verse 5 Now

if any of you lacks wisdom he should ask his mother He should ask his

neighbor No he should ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given to

him Who are you asking wisdom from Now our parents good source of wisdom if

they're good parents Our neighbor might be a good source of wisdom Other people in the church

be a good source of wisdom but the ultimate source of all wisdom is God And this verse

says if you lack wisdom if you don't know what to do if you don't know where

to go you reach your wits end you don't know where to turn you've done all

you can do If any of you lacks wisdom he should ask God But because

we didn't ask God we leaned toward our own understanding and because we lean to our own understanding the

situation got worse and worse and worse and worse When the Bible clearly teaches us that we should

seek first the wisdom of God seek first the kingdom of God And all the things wisdom

that you need will be added unto you So the key is to seek first God for wisdom because

he's the source of all wisdom and he's going to give it to you Now how is he going

to give it to you He's going to give it to you through his spirit

through his word as you seek the word daily for wisdom You see the process It's not abracadabras it's

not magic you're not gonna hear a voice from on high but you're gonna go

into your word and you're gonna continue to seek wisdom You're gonna search the scriptures daily You're going to pray

and God through His Holy Spirit will give you the wisdom that you need for

the right situation at the right time But in contrast the natural man relies on

worldly wisdom He's not even thinking about seeking God He's seeking human philosophy He's seeking human wisdom He's looking

at tarot cards The Bible says in James chapter 3 verse 15 that there's two

types of wisdom one that's earthly and another that's spiritual The natural man is going to seek the wisdom that

is earthly that is sensual and demonic But the spiritual man who has received the Holy Spirit is going

to seek those things which are spiritual We must depend on the Spirit to give us

wisdom in order to understand the scriptures to be able to discern truth from error and to make godly decisions

in our lives because our human minds our human reasoning alone It's not going to

cut it because our human reasoning cannot grasp or understand the spiritual things of God We know and receive the

things of God because they are spiritually discerned And that's the next point I want

to talk to you about spiritual discernment What is it It's the ability to distinguish between

spiritual realities truth and error for the purpose of guiding our decisions and aligning them with God's

divine will Spiritual discernment is different from wisdom Now why do I say spiritual realities Spiritual realities

are coming from one or two sources from God or from earthly central demonic sources and discernment helps us

to distinguish the difference between the two If you don't have discernment you will not be able to

distinguish between the two The difference between the truth and error especially in the world today is so close

because of the spirit of deception that Jesus said will come into the world in the last days

It's so close You need the spirit of God to help you distinguish between the two Today

they're calling good evil and calling evil good I'm talking about Christians and it's because they don't have

spiritual discernment They don't have the ability to distinguish between truth and error Therefore they're going to make

a bad decision based on incorrect information and their decision will not be aligned with the will

of God But the spiritual man seeks spiritual discernment We want to know and be able to

distinguish between truth and error because both have real-time results in our lives 1 Corinthians chapter 2 verse 14

to 15 our text but the natural man does not receive the things of the spirit

because they are spiritually discerned We're seeing through the lenses of scripture We're looking through the lenses of the

spirit and not the lenses of the flesh or the world and the natural man cannot do this

The natural man is blind to the spiritual realities They're not able to distinguish between truth and

error 2 Corinthians chapter 4 verse 4 says that the god little G of this

age has blinded the minds of unbelievers and they can't even see the truth The only way

they can see the truth is if the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ

enters in and still they won't be able to see the truth because Satan has blinded their minds

so they won't even recognize truth That's why we got so much insanity in the

world today Who would ever thought there would even be a debate about how many

genders there are Who would even think there would be a debate about whether a

man could be a woman or a woman could be a man But because the God of this age little

G has blinded the minds of unbelievers God has turned them over to a reprobate mind

meaning he's letting them to believe whatever they want to believe to be true because they want to believe it

Even though the light of the truth is shining brightly they still have made a decision to believe

a lie versus the truth They have no discernment They're not able to distinguish between right and

wrong truth and error but the spiritual man has spiritual discernment and we're able to

see through the deceptive tricks of Satan The apostle Paul says we're not to be ignorant of

Satan's devices his schemes his methods But if you're not spiritually minded if you don't have

discernment you too will be hoodwinked bamboozled led astray and run them up You'll be

spiritually deceived but because of the spirit that dwells in us we're able to see through the deceptive tricks of

Satan and to see and evaluate everything in life from God's perspective to see to evaluate everything in

life from a biblical worldview And this doesn't happen automatically We got to put these things into practice on a

daily basis Discernment is not a one-time thing We have to use discernment in every decision

that we make Everything that we hear everything that we see we got to use

spiritual discernment Hebrews chapter 5 verse 14 says this Believers who by reason of use have their senses exercised meaning

they have trained their senses to discern both good and evil So we have to utilize and exercise

spiritual discernment on a daily basis so we can train our spiritual senses to discern what is good and

what is evil In today's deceptive world they're closely aligned and you've got quote Christians thinking That they're

doing something that's pleasing to God and everything they're doing is against God and they don't even know

it because they have no discernment We're living in a time of deception where good is called evil and

evil is called good But we have to be like Solomon in the Bible In 1 Kings

chapter 3 verse 9 this is what Solomon prayed for He said to the Lord

Give your servant an understanding heart to judge your people and to discern between good and evil

for who is able to govern this great people of yours Now Solomon wanted wisdom and discernment to lead We

need wisdom and discernment to live out our daily lives in this world Our prayer

should be Lord give me understanding Give me wisdom and knowledge to be able to discern good from evil right

from wrong because Lord I don't want to do nothing I don't want to say nothing

That's going to be out of your will plans and purpose for my life Lord I want my life to

be pleasing and acceptable in Your sight Lord give me the wisdom knowledge and understanding

that I need so I can discern good from evil right from wrong The spiritual man must be rooted

and grounded in the scriptures and guided by the Spirit of God to be able to discern truth

from error Now the third benefit a spiritual mind What did I tell you a spiritual man was one

who is spiritually minded but that don't happen overnight That don't happen just because you made

a confession of faith That has to be cultivated that has to be developed on a

daily basis 1 Corinthians chapter 2 verse 16 says but we believers have the mind

of Christ What does that mean To have the mind of Christ means to think like act like and

live like Jesus Christ It's to think act and live in alignment with God's will plans and purposes That's

what it means to have a spiritual mind the mind of Christ That's the goal

of sanctification That's the goal of spiritual discipleship to be Christ-like Philippians chapter 2 verse 5 says let this mind

be in you which was also in Jesus Christ What kind of mind did Jesus have

Jesus had a humble obedient servant mind Therefore we are to be like him So

what kind of mind should we have A humble mind What kind of mind we should have

an obedient mind What kind of mind should we have A servant mind And when

we have these attributes in our thinking we will have the mind of Christ and we will be Christ-like

which was the ultimate goal It just don't happen automatically Romans 12:2 says do not be conformed to this

world but be transformed changed within by the renewing of your mind so that you may

discern what is good pleasing and perfect will of God You can't have the mind of the

world and be able to discern what is the good and pleasing and perfect will

of God You'll never discover it because you have the mind of the world and not

the mind of Christ But as we're being transformed changed from within renewing our minds

to the word hearing the word of God daily because faith comes by hearing and hearing

by the word of Christ Our minds are being renewed our thinking is being changed

from the inside and it will manifest itself outwardly Now there'll be evidence of a

spiritual life proof of a spiritual life You'll see the manifestation of the fruit of the spirit operating in

your life but we have to renew our minds And when we do that the

spiritual man now no longer will live by the flesh but the spiritual man will live by and

is led by the spirit Romans chapter 8 verse 5 and 6 teaches about two ways of

life 2 One dominated by the sinful nature the flesh the other by the Holy

Spirit There's only two ways You're either led by your fleshly desires or you're being led

by the Spirit Those who are focused on the desires of the flesh the sinful nature are

headed toward spiritual eternal death While those who are focused on the things of the

spirit experience life eternally life more abundantly peace joy all the things that the scripture says we will

have if we're led by the Spirit and not the flesh and we can do this because

the Holy Spirit helps us to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ The

devil attacks the mind with thoughts ideas and suggestions and his ultimate goal is to

create fear worry and doubt in your life But the spirit helps us bring every attack every negative

thought that Satan brings He helps us to take that thought and make it captive

to the obedience of Jesus Christ 2 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 5 says we break down every thought and proud

thing that puts itself up or exalts itself against the wisdom of God We take hold

of every thought and make it obey Christ The spiritual man daily takes negative thoughts captive and

brings them into the obedience of Christ The spiritual man daily surrenders his mind his will and

his emotions to God We leave you with this the spiritual man the spiritual believer that's

being led by the spirit of God can receive spiritual benefits to enhance their life One

spiritual wisdom Now spiritual wisdom is not the accumulation of Bible knowledge but the application of those spiritual truths in

our daily lives Because you've got a whole bunch of people that's got a head full of

Bible knowledge They can quote you the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation but they're not applying

one thing to their daily lives Therefore they're not maximizing the spiritual benefit of wisdom They know what

to do they're not doing it That's why James says that we ought to be

what Doers of the word and what not hearers only Spiritual wisdom will benefit the spiritually led man if they

apply those spiritual truths to their lives We talked about discernment which is different from wisdom

It allows us to be able to distinguish what is good and what is God Because a lot

of people think what is good is of God but the sermon will let you know whether or

not what is good is of God because we need to know which is from the

world which is full of error and that which is from the word which is full of

truth and this will cause us to now have a spiritual mind Let this mind be

in you that's in Christ This mind has to be renewed daily by the word of God and faith

comes by hearing the word of God putting the word of God in our minds

on a daily basis saturating our thoughts with scripture so we can think the thoughts of Christ and this

is a continuous thing that we have to do We have to discipline ourselves to not set our minds

on earthly things But on things that have eternal purposes and reflects the real plans and purpose of God

And we have to do this on a daily basis The spiritual man seeks wisdom and discernment

that keeps your mind anchored in the truth of the word And lastly the spiritual man is not

just informed about the things of God but he is transformed by the things of God So I

pray that message this morning has been a blessing to you and now you know The three

benefits of a spiritual man led by the Spirit of God wisdom discernment and a sound spiritual
