Hello and welcome back to Module 2.

Today, we are going to talk about
how to prepare for formulating.

Firstly, make sure you have all the tools

and equipment ready
and you're wearing gloves.

This is very important.

You need to have isopropyl alcohol
or rubbing alcohol at hand.

I recommend 70%.

Anything higher will not be so effective.

And with this isopropyl alcohol,
you could disinfect your surfaces.

So all you need is just spray a bit
of alcohol everywhere,

get a lint-free cloth,
and wipe everything down very well.

Obviously, I assume that this work

surfaces were cleaned before, so now
we just have to disinfect the area.

Once the surfaces are clean,
we can move on to the containers.

I have quite a few things out.

I'm getting ready to make the next video.

As you see, I use glass and stainless
steel beakers and bowls.

They are very easy to clean.

I don't recommend anything plastic

because they can be scratched and that
they can just hide all sorts of microbes.

But also they tend to be heat-sensitive,

so if we have to heat any of our

ingredients, they won't really be
good unless they are heat-proof.

So glass.

Even with glass, you could
get heavy-duty beakers.

Look for them like this,

heavy-duty duty lab beakers,
or the stainless steel mixing bowls.

They are perfect for small sample amounts
until you are ready to upgrade.

Do the same,

you spray everything and using a lint
free cloth, you just wipe them clean.

If there is any residue,
don't worry about them, they tend

to evaporate by the time
you are ready to use them.

You do the same with your utensils.

Again, I'm using stainless steel
spoons or glass rods.

They can be from anywhere,

especially catering suppliers,
catering equipment suppliers.

They are very good

with these sorts of things like
your glass rods and the spoons.

If you have disposable pipettes, please wipe
those as well or your silicon spatulas.

Be very careful with your electric tools.

I'm going to be using a hand blender.

They have a lot of hidden areas, so make
sure that you wipe those over as well.

Get your pH strips or pH meter ready.

So basically, have everything
at hand ready to formulate.
