how do you build a following if you have no followershow do you go about growing that followingif you don't have any ideasand how do you get past the initial fearof getting out there of growing a communityof putting your content out therethese five specific areas we will cover shortlyas we move through this videoI wanna cover all basesI also wanna preface this by sayingthere is no magic formula to growing onlineany business whether it's digitalbrick and mortar it is important to understand thatif you wait for the perfect formulayou will probably never get thereif you wait until the time is rightyou'll probably never get therenobody starts off super successfulno one has hundred thousand followersmillion followers overnightI can guarantee youanyone who has any success in any area of lifehas to work hard failstart over again continue on that cycleif you start with these practical tips will go overif you work your way through themyou will succeedand you will start to see that successlittle bit by little bit the trick that I foundthat I believe is don't measure every small whenevery small accomplishmentappreciate them yesbut don't base your whole strategy on theminstead set a time in the distant futuremaybe in one year or in six monthsto go back and benchmarkand track everything as a wholein a much bigger pictureversus every single minute of every single daylooking at things waiting for things to growif you do that you probably quityou'll probably quit sooner than laterand it will probably drive you crazylet's start with how do you know what to sharewith your online audiencehow do you know what to put out therethis is something that can be very simplestart with what you already knowwhat are you good at what do you enjoy doingdon't worry so much about the audience as much at firstworry more about what are you going to talk abouthow can you do that for an extended period of timeand carry on a naturalsimple conversation the reason you wanna do this isyou will be able to carry on that naturaltype of conversation easilyyou could do this on topics you already knowyou don't need to act like you know somethingwhen you may or may not know thatyou don't need to force somethingwhen you may or may not know thatI've made these mistakes many times over the yearsso think about something you already knowsomething you already do and enjoynow identify that right nowyou can start by telling me about ityou can literally pause the video right now if you likeand start telling me about your passionlook into the mirror start talking about your passionwhat do you like about itwhat makes it fun what makes it interesting to youthis is the keywhen it comes to creating content for any audienceand anything that you do in lifethe same thing applies to your content materialyou can go against the grainif you are creating on somethingyou know very little aboutbut I don't recommend you do thatI don't recommend you waste your time doing thatyou have to look at it like thiswhen it comes to building a brandespecially a digital brandwhere there's no brick and mortar storewhere you're not out there every day in publicdoing hand to hand transactionsyou want to take any knowledge you haveanything you know specificallyand plan to create content around it forI would personally say three to five yearsnow it doesn't meanyou have to create hundreds of pieces of contentevery week and go crazybut you wanna put out a good videoyou wanna put out a good articleyou wanna put out a good blog postI have other videos on thison the channel that that you can watchfor reference on how to put out contentbut look at it in terms of what can I talk aboutfor years naturallywhere it won't be a chore every single dayevery single time I'm coming on to create a videoif you want to talk about something that you'renot super well versed inyou don't even have maybe an amateur level at itbut it's something that you really wanna doI'm not telling you not to do thatof course do that what I would recommend isgive yourself 90 days of researchat least might seem like you're wasting timeyou wanna get started you wanna get videos out therebut the videos just won't be goodthe videos won't resonatethe videosprobably won't reach who you want them to reachif you're not being authenticif you're not being genuineif you're forcing things too muchmaybe you're scripting thingssomething wrong with scripting from time to timeusing bullet points very importantI use bullet points and everything I'm going throughright in front of me herebut it's more about that natural conversationso I would take that 90 daysI would get out there and start watching videosstart reading articles learn before you beginyou could do this for freeyou can learn almost all beginner things for freemany novice things as welleven some more advanced thingsif you have the timeand you're willing to get out therelook for itbut those 90 days will give you nine months of growthon the back endtruly if not moresoyou're not wasting any time by learning that new skillif you're talking about somethingyou're already well versed and very knowledgeable inthen you don't need to worry about that 90 daysnow you do not need to be an expertto talk about a subjectbut you want to have a generalized knowledge thatI believe needs to be slightly abovewhat the normal person will already knowwhy is that if it's not obvious alreadywhy would somebody watch your contentwhy would somebody watch your videoswhat pain point are you fillingfor that intended audiencethat intended person that they don't already knowso why would someone click on a videowhy would someone read an article that you've writtenif it's something that almost everybody knowsnow most thingsdepending on how specialized the knowledge isand what you're doingyou can find areas that maybe 80% of people knowbut 20% don't and you can really niche down your marketand I have other videos on this as wellthat you can look out on the channel about nichesand how to really find thembut focus on what you knowit makes it that much easier to create the contentnow No. 2 how do you identify your target audiencefor your digital brandidentifying this target audience for your brandit should include two main considerations on your endfirst what do you want to talk aboutwhen you narrow down that subject matteryou can easily narrow down your target audiencewhat do I know what can I talk aboutwhat can I talk aboutfor years while I build this brandand the next thing you wanna do issimply take that subject matteryour current skills you already knowand look for the pain points in the marketmarket your skills around those pain pointsthis is often done in reverseI used to do this in reverseand that does not fall into the area of effectivecontent strategydon't fall into that trapso here's an example for referencethat say you're passionate about fitnesshow to live a healthy lifestylenow write down what you know about fitnesswrite down what you know about dietwhat you know about working outstress levels motivationnow from that list of topics that you already knowyou can begin to identify your audiencewhile figuring out those pain pointsyou're speaking toanyone who is looking to clean up their dietlook speaking to anyone's looking to get in shapemaybe live a healthy lifestylemaybe practicing religionreading the Bible heywhatever it may be nowyou can dive deeper into each of thesefoundational areascreate sub topics for your target audienceto achieve those best resultsNo.3 why you should always create high quality contenthey this is super importantthere was a time when I was working on different brandsworking on different thingsworking with different companiesand I was putting out a lot of contentton of content in the mindset of quantity over qualitywith still some quality in therebut not enough quality not enough targetingnot enough time put into thatand it resonated in the resultsso in best time in creating contentyou want it to be informativeyou want it to be entertainingyou want it to be inspiringit does not need to be spectacularamazing super high quality productionsedits going all over the screen every 5 secondsso anything along those lines yesif that's how you create that's okay toobut it does not need to be that intenseI think and from experienceand from running many campaigns over years of timethat simplicity is often the best way to gomake things simple make things easy to understandand it doesn't need to be very flashyso you don't need to get super stressed outabout creatingvery intense videos to take a ton of time to edithigh quality does not mean high editingdoes not mean mass editingdoes not mean spending a weekto write one blog articlethat is also not effectiveyou have to balance outgreat quality with enough quantityto continue to build now when I was starting outI was very product based focused creating on bookscreating courseswhich is still something that I'm passionate aboutand I create but that was all I was focusing onfocusing on the platform andand and how the videos were deliveredI was not putting enough timeinto good quality contentto good quality content creationso the term high quality should not be taken lightlythis does not have to be scholar level articlesit should give valueshould give value to the person spending the timereading it think of itin terms of everything you are putting out thereask yourself one questionwill this benefit someone reading this watching thiswill this benefit their 10 minutes of timethey are investing in it to read itwill they leave learning somethingknowing something they did not know beforewhether this is blog postits videos or podcast or social media postyou wannaensure that your content is visually appealingand it adds value to your audience's livesvery important part consistency here is keyaim to maintain regular postingregular schedule to keep your audience engagedthis schedule does not need to be 10 times a dayin fact it shouldn't be 10 times a dayset a schedule that works for you works for your lifewhether that's once a week twice a weekthree times a weekmaybe a little bit more on on Twitterif you're putting out tweets on X whatever that may beform a schedule that works for younow No. 4is the importance of engaging regularlywith your audienceat one point in my content creation and in my journeyas I was building early on againI had the mindset of thinking thatgood copy content would carry itselfsoI did not think I needed to invest much time engagingand I would let the platforms do that for methat's what they're there forput out great contentand the rest will take care of itselfI was wrong about this obviouslyand I Learned that the hard way after deletinga couple online brands after deleting social profilesafter having failure after failuregoing through what I was going throughmany unsuccessful pageshad to learn it the hard waylike a lot of us have to learn things at timesso engagement is equallyif not more important than great contentnow again if you put out not great contentand you're just commenting on everything and engagingit won't really matter because most peopleprobably won't be initiating engagementon what you're putting out therebecause it's not great so you see how the cycle worksif your content is not the best contentbut it's okay you can still salvage itby engaging with your audience onlineon some levelyou want to initiate conversations with your audiencehow do you do that you just respond to commentssend messages at mentionsa lot of small things you can dothose small things are importantremember their social networksyou're trying to build an audience for your contentfor your brand through social networksthe the other end of that ispeople that are looking for engagementlooking for connection looking for the social sideso when you send a commentthink about when you get a comment in your inbox heyI really like that article oror great video great pictureeven if it's from your friendswhich it probably is most of the timehow does that make you feelmakes you feel goodyou remember that person and you probably reciprocateso the same principle applies hereshowing genuine interest in opinionsand generating that feedbackcan help you foster that communityultimately grow that audience biggerengaging with your audienceit does not only strengthen a relationshipbut it invites other people to alsojoin in on the conversationnow No. 5 offer value solve problemsI would say that providing valueprobably the single most important pieceto building a followingbuilding a following of any kindwhether it's short term whether it's long termit's easy to put out a videoit's easy to write a blog postlet's be honest anyone with a phoneanyone with a laptop can write somethingcan post something on Instagramor post something on Twitterput out a videojust record with your phone and a lot of people doI'm not coming down on anyon any quality of contentor I'm not coming down on anythinganyone's putting out therebecause it's a learning and growth processbut you can tellthe ones that are learning and growing through itand you could tellthe ones that are just kind of doing it to get it doneputting things out to get it doneanyone can press recordand put those things out into the marketbut of those that say hundred thousand peoplehow many of them actually provide valuewhat percentage is around in a yearwhat percentage is around in a monthor three months or six monthsand why are they not aroundbecause no one's followingcause that audience is not buildingwhich circles back to valueit circles back to engagementand circles back to the consistency of everythingit's easy to see who is putting that value outnot so much in the number of followers even they havebut the quality they havesome creatorswas significantly less followers than othersbut the content they put out is 10 times more valuablethis is something that's very important to methat I talk about over and over againdon't focus on follower numbers specificallyit doesn't matter as much as you might think yessomeone scrolling that looks at your profile and sayshey they have 1 million followersthey must be onto somethingif you really delve into the content a lot of the timea lot of those followers are not super engagedso I would ratherpersonally have 100,000 super engaged followersacross all social media networks combinedthen 1 million that are only 10% or 20% engagedcause the numbers will come out to the sameespecially when you're looking to scale a businessor you're looking to grow onlinesell a product sell a coursewhatever that may bethink about that in terms of not quantity but qualityso we're sort of reversing it from the beginningnow don't overthink it hereit doesn't need to be any more complicated than it isthan this valuable contentanything that solves a problem for the personit was intended for when it was createdfocus on providing value value driven contentthat addresses the needs and challengesof your specific audienceshare this knowledge share your expertise and insightsto offer solutions to the problemswith skills and with knowledge you already havepreferably if you're able to do thatif it matches up when you consistently deliver valueyou will bring trust you will bring credibilitywhich are essential for growingand building a loyal followingin the short term and more importantlyin the long term so when you follow these stepswhen you stay focused on the goals we've outlinedyou can grow a really a thriving online followingyou can do this from scratchwhich everybody has to doeven with zero initial followerswhich it's okay to be therewe all are there at certain pointsand that is the journey when you're getting startedso set your milestonesgo back through the five key pointsand just be consistentbe consistent with things you're putting outyour audience will start to growthank you for being hereand for being a part of the channelif you would like to take a deep studyif you would like to take an accelerated programyou can find those in the descriptionas always please make sure if you're getting value herehit the subscribe buttonthe like button really helps to push the content outhelps it reach more people which is very important
