I'm going to demonstrate I examine uh um the throat and the larynx of a person who

has symptoms such as tightness in their throat feeling of a lump in their throat um huskiness um

loss of power soreness The singers uh they may be experiencing um a loss of pitch

range particularly high notes um And Loss of resonance and loss of a fullness of their voice those

sorts of things and this is how I would examine the throat So I'm looking for um muscle tension to

see if there's increased muscle tension and if the larynx is freely moving or if

it feels restricted or if it's in a position that's too high or too pulled back So OK So First

of all feeling for the hyoid bone in the throat which sits just below the jaw And It's

gonna move it from side to side See how freely moving it is Does that feel

sore at all Does that feel right OK And then coming down below the hyoid bone There's a space

um between the hyoid bone and the voice box below otherwise known as the larynx And

these are connected by a muscle either side which should be nice and stretchy
