Hello My name is Jesse Burge and I would like to share with you about the journey of how

refined began and the work we are providing to bring about restorative self worth to

survivors of sexual exploitation It was at the standing against trafficking meetings that I learned about sex trafficking

in the Denver metro area It was in my state my city and when I learned it was

in my neighborhood and that the life expectancy of these individuals is only seven years I knew that I

had to do something Sex trafficking is the largest slave trade in the world affecting over 4.3 million adults

and over two million Children It's worldwide profit is over $150 billion 11 and 14 years old Familial trafficking has

the highest percentage in the United States of Children being sexually exploited Traffickers are targeting people via

social media the gaming systems and dating apps They're targeting them at our malls and

at our schools where peer recruitment is increasing They also target individuals at our churches Colorado

is ranked in the top 10 states of our nation for sex trafficking and it is because of

our highway systems homelessness and drug policies anytime you have a high influx of money sporting events the national Western

stock show and big business like the Denver Tech center You can guarantee that there will

be a high demand for exploitative acts Sexual exploitation does not discriminate against age refined has served

individuals as young as 12 and as old as 56 It doesn't discriminate against gender

Both boys and girls are being targeted at the same rate So let me share with you what refined

is doing to combat this problem By creating empowering and restorative relationships with survivors of

exploitation through the faithful friend program styling and court support care In 2020 refined launched the faithful friend program where

we vetted and trained volunteers to walk alongside a survivor who is committed to her

healing journey We have witnessed 22 survivors be encouraged by others who will love them right where they

are for who they are and not what they have done Our goal is to provide tools resources education and

support through mentorship and discipleship to our volunteers We know that walking alongside a person who has

experienced complex trauma can be challenging Therefore our team of mentor advocates provides ongoing support to

the faithful friend volunteers Our wraparound services and support help recovery programs focus on treatment and

healing for a survivor While relationships built through our program surpassed their graduation and are intended to continue throughout their

whole life since 2015 refined styling services helped over 500 survivors reclaim dignity and self

worth by reminding them that they are beautiful and loved We are educating and coaching

them in professional presentation and we have partnered with local hair salons in over 15 different stylists

who offer their services free of charge to give survivors a new fresh look In 2017 refined prep six

victims who testified in the nation's largest sex trafficking trial brock franklin was sentenced to 473

years in prison As a result refined received this award from the FBI and Rocky Mountains

innocence Lost Task force Our assistance and support of this trial has led to representing victims in

Attorney's and victims specialist teams These individuals should not have to walk this path alone but unfortunately many of

them do the before and after transformations give victims confidence to face their perpetrators and

let their voices be heard Won't you help us Help them see themselves as their creator sees them beautiful

and loved It is a head to toe and inside and out transformation that refined is bringing to survivors and
