(1938) An aging actor, trying to make a comeback on Broadway, is surprised when his estranged daughter shows up. She is an actress and is trying to make it on Broadway. He tries to re-establish his relationship with her while also trying to hide the fact that she is his daughter from the press.

Sadie Martin owns a riverboat that is frequently used by miners traveling to their claims. During their trip, the miners drink and gamble. Sadie's daughter, Helen, is unaware of her mother's work because her mother sends her to boarding school in order to live a lifestyle more attributed to the upper-class. Unfortunately for Sadie, she is facing difficulty maintaining the costly riverboat. She is soon forced to sell the boat in order to make ends meet.

Betty Boop campaigns for Grampy to be the new mayor and he wins. As soon as he takes office, the citizens come out from everywhere to complain and to demand he fix things. Grampy is in his element.
