Defining a target market for your brand can be one of the hardest parts of the processwhen you're starting to create online If you want to sell products if you wantto market digital products build a following The fastest way to do that is to define atarget create content around that target and attract the right people to you from thatspecific target The difficulty lies in knowing what exactly to talk about over time This is where many peopleget confused and start to worry What if I run out of things to sayto talk about What if I no longer want to talk about a certain subject These are all normal thoughtsto have In this episode we will discuss picking a target audience in a fewparts the power of a targeted audience some limitations of narrowing down your niche and really leveraging growth within thattarget And choosing that niche is the crucial step in establishing your online presence and building that successful business Whenyou choose a niche it defines your target audience it sets you apart from competitors It reallyguide your content creation the effort you're putting in while a well defined niche can lead tofocused growth loyal followers It can also pose limitations that can really hinder your expansion Why is a targeted audiencebeneficial to growing your brand And how do you target that down correctly The more youcan zero in on who you're speaking to the easier it can be to grow and to sell tothat audience over time narrowing the niche down to be very specific can allow you freedom towrite without having to search for new ideas all the time brand new ideas you can mastera certain subject over time which will benefit you and will benefit your audience Which isthe most important thing When you select that target audience you can create your copy around serving that specific needIf your target is fitness let's say power lifters then you can write about that subject in as manyways as possible which will talk about shortly narrowing your niche can allow you to set yourself as anexpert in that specific area While establishing more authority with each new piece of content that you writeSome of the main benefits of being very target specific is your audience a definedniche allows you to target that specific audience with very tailored content offerings You can createvery targeted products courses ebooks and more that fill a single practical need This is helpful whenyou're looking to sell anything as people want to buy specific things to solve Specific problems So thistargeted audience over time will be more inclined to buy from you because you're you're always sharing and helpingthem solve their problems in that specific area in the content you create and you're putting out thereSo authority and expertise is another issue here to to remember you wanna position yourself as an authority figure inwhatever it is you're doing whether it's online or offline any successful business owner ormanager will tell you they did not get to where they are by trying tobe average they set themselves apart in some form And because of that they were able to get aleg up in the market As you consistently provide this value content solutions within your niche you build credibilityand trust among your audience This leads to that increased influence and recognition differentiation Themarketplace is crowded now it will continue to be more crowded over time with social media the ease of anyoneto press record to put content out there saturates the market with a lot of content that is nottargeted specific So when you focus in on that you can really get a leg upby giving the consumer exactly what they're looking for versus being very broad or generalized like themajority of marketers who can be out there today and relevance to your niche from yourcontent That connection When you define this it allows you to create very relevant content that addressesspecific needs and challenges of your audience This content is what matters the most If youcan create this type of content over an extended period of time that will help your audiencein any way they will stick around and follow you long term This following will be more inclined toengage with your content as well After they build that trust in you there area lot of marketers out there If you wanna stand out it makes sense to targetyour content as much as you possibly can If you're getting value here before we moveon to the next section make sure you follow make sure you hit the like button Itreally helps push this content out further And what are some limitations of a narrow nicheYou wanna have a direction for your content Where is it going If you don't have a direction thenyou'll probably quit Most likely the tricky part comes from deciding if you stick withone target or you expand to multiple targets And when is the right time to do that Isthere a right time I recommend starting out with one main foundational topic that's use fitness againfrom that big topic you then create three subtopics You can start to talk about that relate tothe main topic but are not the main topic directly What could those topics beDiet exercise and supplements When you give yourself sub topics you can broaden the scopeof what you're talking about without going way off the foundational topic and losing your audience completely This will giveyou much more freedom to talk about over time over the long term which is howyou build your authority in the market space short term and long term Now understanding the limitationsof narrowing down this is important So you can see from the consumer side of things thinkabout these limitations When you are defining your own audience remember you can always adapt and changethings the likelihood you will get it 100% correct from day one very slimm But if you do thenthat's great then that's good for you You wanna think about things like audience size One of theprimary drawbacks of a narrow niche is the limited size of the target audience If you're target istoo specialized or narrow you may struggle to attract a specific number of followers or customers to sustain thissmall audience when first starting out So be great as it will help you grow quicker butyou may be limited in how far you can actually go think about market saturation Some niches are highlycompetitive with numerous businesses vying for their attention of that same audience This can work bothways for your brand I believe it always will There's no audience out there that is not being marketed toat some level currently if there is then you have really found a hidden gem it's easier to dealwith saturation When you have a broader topic a good role to know is the broader the topic thelonger it probably will take you to grow is your target audience Too small focusingexclusively on a single niche may limit your ability to diversify products and offerings and expandinto other markets With its lack of flexibility can be restrictive especially if you want toexplore new opportunities or go in a different direction Again this is different for everyone based on the typeof content you create based on your audience and products overall activity what you're planningto put out there So unless you're picking something that is barely known or very new you shouldbe OK if you pick a few subtopics to create around so you have more reach in your maintopic of promotion When it comes to balance how do you find balance you can leverage for growthin your niche A niche can support and restrict your growth The key lies in finding that balance thatmaximizes benefit while it mitigates some of the limitations balance is not hard to attain Butit does take practice the only real way to know what balance works best for you is towrite create and test very simply over time you will get better at your style matching that content styleto your target audience and what they're looking for Think of each new post video social media updatethat goes out you want that to perform better than the last time and thisworks If you pay attention and you track your progress what are some practical things you can startdoing today to find a good balance in your content delivery can expand start with the foundation topicwrite those subtopics out So you're set for when you wanna grow and expand out Take those threetopics right underneath each of them more subtopics You see how this works this way you'recreating that simple content map you can build on You wanna keep an eye on what is going on withthe market with your audience and what your content is doing over time in themarket Be prepared to adapt change strategies slightly as needed to capitalize on any of new opportunities Staying ahead ofthe curve staying ahead of trends that are coming I would not make any big moves on a whimbut take time to watch what is happening And I don't recommend creating on what is trending specifically If you'relooking to grow over the long term just stay focused on your subjects stay focused onyour goals and your brand When it comes to experimentation don't be afraid to do this form somenew ideas new approaches that work When you experiment you get to see what works and whatdoesn't just make sure you stay focused on your foundation can be uncomfortable But as long as youdon't go too far outside of your main foundation topic You should seek to try new things youshould seek to put new things out into the market If your content is goodif your value is good then it will be a positive experience for you for the end consumerWhile a target audience can be good it can be bad to restrict growth it can help growth It ultimatelydepends on how you approach it and how you leverage it When you understand thepros we went over some of the negatives we went over to give you agood idea what to implement how the benefits work from that how to navigate creating your owncontent for that targeted audience So as always you can check the description for
