Private Snafu - Rumors (1943)
“Loose lips sink ships.” This phrase echoed very strongly during WWII because you never know when a spy could exploit sensitive information. Private Snafu was one of many cartoons produced during WWII for training purposes. Mainly these hilarious cartoons were used to demonstrate what not to do in certain situations and dealing with false information was one those subjects.
A look into the whole cupid operation; we see how the process is supposed to work, with cupids practicing their archery, and the couples handed off to the stork. But there’s one particularly resistant couple (the man is a W.C. Fields caricature) who takes the whole crew to finally corral.
The film gives a portrait of mental health treatment during the 50s, which was the heyday of treating mental patients in big institutions.
