Today we're gonna be talking about speaking God's word in a storm Open your Bibles to Isaiah

chapter 26 verse 3 And it reads You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you

because he trusts in you One of the things we need to know and understand that in this

life you're either in a storm headed towards a storm or dealing with the aftermath of a

storm The reality of life is that every believer will face times of storms Every believer will

face times of crisis a season of testing and times of rebuilding after the storm However

God's word equips us with the peace and the strength for every situation God's word gives us the power

to remain calm and confident through any storms in life So today I want to

share with you three types of storms that as believers we'll find ourselves in And

how we should respond biblically We're going to talk about those sudden unexpected storms We're going to

talk about those long and slow turbulent storms That seems to be everlasting never ending And

we're going to talk about the aftermath of the storm How do we recover from a storm

So let's talk about speaking God's word in a storm Some storms come suddenly and unexpectedly There was no

way we could anticipate the storm We didn't see it coming We got a bad report from

the doctor We suffered a financial loss unexpected tragedy It was sudden and unexpected When these

things happen fear comes in fast Because the devil specializes in maximizing off of the storms in life because

he comes to steal kill and destroy He wants to create fear worry and doubt

in the life of a believer and he uses these storms as a way to let

fear enter in But just as quick as a storm can come faith can come also See that's what

you and I need to know as a believer I want us to go to the Old

Testament I want to look at the Shuamite woman She had a situation that came suddenly She had a

situation that came unexpectedly 2 Kings chapter 4 25 and 26 says so she set out

and went to the man of God at Mount Carmel When the man of God saw her at a distance

he said to his servant Gehazia Look there is a Shuamite woman Please run out

now to meet her and ask are you all right Is your husband all right Is your child all right

And this is what she answered Everything is all right You see when her son died suddenly

unexpectedly she went to the man of God but she said that everything was all right Even though

her son had died she said Everything is all right See she had faith in God and her faith-filled

words reflected her trust in God Before the miracle ever came she spoke words of faith

to that situation We're talking about speaking God's word in a storm A storm came

it came suddenly unexpectedly but look at her response She said Everything is all right Her words

reflected her trust before the miracle ever happened And just like the shooterite woman we can

choose by faith to speak God's word to speak God's truth rather than speaking our fears She

could have lost it She could have threw up her hands Fear worry and doubt could have consumed her mind

but instead she trusted God and she said everything is all right She chose to speak faith instead of

fear and likewise we can choose to speak faith instead of fear when the unexpected storms in our life come

Our faith can say that everything is all right It's well even before the situation changes

See when she made the statement her son was still dead but she had faith in God The situation hadn't

changed yet But she chose to speak words of faith rather than fear even before the situation

changed God's word can bring instant calm in the midst of a sudden crisis in

the midst of chaos Speaking the word what does it do It strengthens our faith and

it silences our fears because God is greater than our fears So when we speak the word Over our situation

that strengthens our faith and it silences our fears Her words revealed her faith and not her circumstances

She spoke life to her situation before seeing the miracle And what happened God restored her son back to

life Psalm 563-4 says times that I am afraid I will trust you Do you trust God this morning when

unexpected sudden situations come into your life Isaiah 26:3 our text this morning says he

will keep you in perfect peace He wants to keep you in perfect peace when these sudden unexpected

storms of life come Romans chapter 8 verse 37 says we are more than conquerors overcomers to Him who loves

us Through Christ we have the ability to overcome any sudden storm that may arise in your life Hebrews chapter

unexpected storms come speak God's word over that situation Don't let fear overwhelm you Don't let worry overtake

you Speak God's word over that situation Declare like the shooter might woman that everything no matter what the situation

is Is all right 2 staying calm in the middle of a storm So you're in

the midst of the storm right now There's winds blowing all around you Some storms in life they linger

They don't ever seem like they're going away Illnesses grief seasons of waiting spiritual dryness It

just seems to linger on and on and on These type of storms require Endurance

They require faith and here's the key word patience Endurance faith and patience Let's look at John chapter 11 and

I want to look at Jesus and Lazarus Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead but he didn't rush

to do it He didn't rush to heal him He waited Now you might ask the question why did

Jesus wait Because Jesus trusted the Father's timing When these storms lingers they don't seem

like they're ever going to pass I've been dealing with this for months I've been

dealing with this for years Lord when will the storm pass Like Jesus we have to wait

and trust in the Father's timing Jesus understood this and said Did I not tell you

if you believe you will see the glory of God What is Jesus saying to

us this morning If you believe you will see the glory of God If you believe the storm

will pass But what do we have to do We have to wait and trust the Father's

timing We quote Romans chapter 8 verse 28 all the time that God is working all

things together for the good of those who love Him and those who are called according to His purpose

But do you have the endurance Do you have the faith and do you have the

patience to ride out this storm Remember what Jesus said If you believe you will

see the glory of God God will manifest Himself to you but you have to wait

You have to trust Jesus could do this because he had a relationship with the Father And you and I

we have a relationship with the Father We trust Him by faith We know that his word is true

These storms are designed for one purpose to test your faith Is your faith real Is it genuine

or are you just going through the motion With these storms of life that come in they don't

seem like they're ever going away Back to back trial after trial situation after situation do you trust God Jesus

raised Lazareth from the dead and people saw the glory of God and their faith was increased

Jesus did not do this to glorify Himself but he did this so that the Father

could be glorified and everyone that was gathered there saw it Jesus had faith and waited before he

performed this miraculous act of raising Lazarus from the dead because he knew that God's timing would bring

greater glory The raising of Lazarus had a greater purpose And that was to reveal God

so that God would be glorified Deuteronomy 31:6 says be strong and of good courage he will

not fail you Do you believe that this morning Psalm 46:1-2 says that God is our refuge

and strength He's a very present help in time of trouble He's right there with

you in the midst of your storm 2 Timothy chapter 1 verse 7 says that God

has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of

sound mind so we don't have to be fearful when storms come in our life

We can trust God and more importantly trust His timing Hebrews 12:1 let us run with patience

the race that is before us Everybody wants an instantaneous miracle It don't always work that way Miracles are

God's choice but what do we have to do in lieu of a miracle We have to wait

We have to trust We got to keep on believing regardless of what our eyes see regardless

of what the situation might bring We have to be patient and run the race that is set before

us trusting God and waiting on his perfect timing And Jesus showed us how to

do that in the midst of this storm He taught us how to be patient how

to pray confidently and believe have faith in God's perfect outcome When we believe in

God's perfect timing we will see God's perfect outcome But what delays God doing what he wants to do in

our life and that's our faith It's our worry is our doubt is our unbelief But what

we have to renew our minds to is God is greater than any storm in

our life And even when it don't appear like God is moving we got to

still trust God We need to remember that God delays are not his denials and to trust in his

perfect timing We need to continue to pray have patience and confess his word daily

over the situations in our lives And we need to give thanks before the breakthrough

comes What are we talking about today We're talking about speaking God's word in a storm You're either currently

in a storm headed for a storm you don't even see it coming or you're dealing

with the aftermath of the storm And that's the 3rd point I want to make

this morning I want to talk about staying strong after a storm because that storm

was designed to take you out That storm was designed to cripple your faith but we have to

stay strong after a storm Just like any storm that occurs there's going to be some damage There's

going to be some loss Fear now sets in because you're afraid of another storm coming We've

experienced some of this in our lifetime We've seen some devastating storms hit certain areas of the United

States and it seems like they're about to recover from the storm Here comes another storm You know what it's

called That's called life How do we stay strong after the storm How do we

recover from the damage the loss and the fear We have to trust God and His

word Because God's word restores and strengthens us as we rebuild and continue to walk in

faith and not by sight His word does that His word heals us His word is

designed to restore us His word is designed to keep us strong after a storm The apostle Paul talked

about this in Philippians chapter 4 verse 13 He says I have strength for all things

in Christ who empowers me I am sufficient in Christ's sufficiency The apostle Paul is demonstrating a mindset that we

need to have in order to recover after a storm Knowing that your strength knowing that your

power to persevere and to overcome the storm comes from Christ You're not going to be able to repair the

damage You're not gonna be able to repair the loss on your own Only God and His word can

restore us Only God in His word can strengthen us Only God and His word can rebuild

us and enable us to continue to walk this walk of faith Only God's word can

do this Psalm 147:3-5 says that it's God who heals the brokenhearted Philippians 4:6-7 teaches

us to be anxious for nothing to not worry about anything And when we do this the

peace of God shall guard our hearts in the midst of storms His word will keep and guard our hearts

as we allow God to assess and repair the damage in our life to heal us

to restore us 1 Peter chapter 5 verse 7 says that we ought to cast all of our

cares on Him because He cares for you That's how we stay strong That's how we recover after a storm

We've got to cast those cares those worries those doubts those fears upon God because

He loves you He don't want you to carry that That's too much But he says to cast all your

cares all your burdens upon Him because He cares for you God can heal and

restore whatever the storm tried to destroy That storm in your life was designed to destroy something Destroy

a relationship your finance your peace your joy your health your strength whatever it is you don't have

to worry Because God promised in his word that he can heal and restore it God

is able to restore With the storm tried to destroy And the peace that we have in that

truth that God can heal and restore is the proof of his presence in your life Because

sometimes in these storms we think that God has forgotten us We think while we're going through these storms that

God has abandoned us We think when we're going through these storms that God has left us

all alone But these storms that come in our life and again it's not if they're coming but when

they're coming Is designed to build and strengthen your faith and your dependency on God God is so good

He's so loving That whatever the storm destroyed God can heal and restore That God is

with us in the midst of our trouble He's a very what Present help in time of trouble

He promised that he will always be with us and he promised never to leave us or

forsake us The storms that he brought us through in the past is the evidence the proof

that he is with us So in that we can rejoice So let me leave you with this this morning

No matter how strong the winds may blow God's word is our anchor and our refuge When we read

the word think meditate on the word and speak his promises over our situation over our circumstance our storm we

access his divine peace That calms us in every situation Like the shooter mic woman everything is

good Everything is well Everything is all right In the midst of the circumstance we can make that confession

And this allows us to stay calm during the storms of life knowing that the same Jesus that calms

the storms he lives in us So when your mind is stayed on God's word your heart is calm You'll

have peace you have God's assurance when your mind is stayed on God's word You're now able

to speak God's word in the midst of the storm and still have peace no

matter what the situation is no matter what the circumstance may be We are world

overcomers because we have the one who overcame the world living on the inside of us So continue

to speak God's word in your storm and God will bring you through Be blessed
