Katie Mae is an independent songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona, playing shows across the Southwest, both solo and with her band, the Lubrication. Their latest release, Yellow Medicine Hills, evokes wide-open spaces, smokey barrooms, and Sunday morning comedowns. “There's plenty of extra poignant introspection, a heaping helping of rebel attitude, and lots of grit and muscle” - The Phoenix New Times, The Best Music We Heard in Metro Phoenix in 2021. Available on all major streaming platforms, Yellow Medicine Hills follows their debut EP, Hazy Angel, which they released last year - and the outfit has been growing like a weed ever since.
Katie Mae describes her sound as interpretive country & alt-western music, though she first took to a stage as the vocalist for a local punk band (and still does). The transition in style is anything but jarring - considering the share values of honesty, authenticity, and vulnerability.
“My favorite performers are those who seem to be entranced in their own hypnotic spell. They transcend deep into altered states of consciousness & invite you along for the ride. Katie Mae is one of those performers.” -R.W. Tudor, Anything But Mainstream Records
