Lucy creates bedlam in a radio station when she becomes disc jockey for a day.
When Jerry and Sherman are producing their boy scout talent show, they ask Lucy to get her 'old friend' Ethel Merman to headline. Merman is in town under an assumed name so Lucy unwittingly recruits her to pass herself off as the Broadway star, with just an hour of voice lessons from Lucy.
Jerry is a slick adman who uses women anbd booze to woo his clients. An executive at a rival agency reports him to the Ad Council.
Pvt. Snafu complains about being assigned to the infantry only to learn that other branches have their own problems.
