Welcome to the Believer's Bible Assembly This is the day that the Lord has made and we're going torejoice and be glad in it Today I want to continue to talk to you aboutthe word of God We've been talking about how scripture is enough and we talked about the word of lifeToday I want to go deeper into our understanding of the word of God because it's important thatwe understand the word It's important that we understand the origin of the word It's important that we understand whorevealed the word to us So when we approach the word we approach the word as the wordof God not something that's written by man but it is in fact the word of Godand it's the word of truth So we start this morning by asking a question What is the word ofGod The word of God is the divine revelation and communication by which God reveals Himself tomankind both through the written scriptures and the living word Jesus Christ We answer the question what is the wordThe word is the written scriptures and the living word Jesus Christ So we talk about the wordthat's what we're talking about The written scriptures and the living word Jesus Christ Let me go aheadand say this from the beginning You cannot separate the two We'll understand that moreas we get into our teaching today The scriptures the word of God serve as the primarysource of divine revelation and truth I'm putting emphasis on the primary source because that'swhere we start from the word of God Now there's a whole bunch of secondary sources out there thingsthat people have written things that people have said but the scriptures the Bible theword of God serves as the primary source Of divine revelation and truth And here's the reasonwhy because the scriptures provide guidance it provides instruction and it provides insight into who God is his characterhis purpose his will His holiness his righteousness That's why the Bible the scriptures have toserve as the primary source of divine revelation for our lives to lead us andguide us and teach us and instruct us into who God is and what His will is for our livesWe said that the word of God is the written scriptures and the living word Jesus ChristJesus Christ is the word Jesus is the incarnate word He's God-made flesh He's the internalword John 11 it says in the beginning was the word and the word was with God andthe word was God The amplified says in the beginning before all time was the word Christ and the wordwas with God and the word was God Himself Jesus Christ is the incarnate word Jesus Christ isthe eternal word that became flesh and dwelt among us Let's go back to what Isaid earlier The word of God is the written word and is Jesus Christ who is the word AndI told you before you cannot separate the two He is the eternal word that came in flesh asa man and dwelt among us John chapter 1 verse 14 says the word became flesh and made hisdwelling among us We have seen his glory the glory of the one and only Son fromthe Father full of grace and truth Jesus is the living word and as the living word he embodiesthe fullness of God's revelation God is spirit God came in the form of flesh Jesus isthe living word who embodies the fullness of God's revelation He is the ultimate expression of God's natureand purpose providing for us a perfect example of obedience and love Jesus told one of his disciples ifyou've seen me you've seen the Father Jesus said I and the Father are one You can't separate God fromChrist and the word We said in one of our previous teachings from 2 Timothy 3:16 that all scriptureis God breathed inspired by God all scripture Jesus Christ came as the living embodiment of the scripturesand we have the written word that was inspired by the Holy Spirit The word both as the written scriptureand the person of Christ was given to us so that we can understand who Godis His will his plan his purpose for our life So the more that we study theword the more that we read the word the more we connect to the word who is JesusChrist The word serves as the foundation of our Christian faith and practice How doyou know what to do as a Christian How you know how we ought toconduct ourselves as believers We have the word that teaches us We have the wordas our foundation for Christian faith and practice So instead of everybody going out doing their own thing we havethe scriptures that centers us the scriptures that serves as a foundation that solid rock ofour Christian faith and practice and it's through the word of God that he revealsHimself And instructs his people and accomplishes his purposes in the world So what I wanna do right now Iwant to journey through the scriptures to understand the word of God Let's talk about the integrityof the word because you hear so many people who claim they don't trust the word because the word waswritten by man Well that's kind of crazy because they believe every other book thatwas written by man They don't question the history books They don't question the science books Theydon't question the physics books They don't question the math books while questioning the wordof God because they don't understand God They don't understand how the word was given Theydon't understand how the word was revealed In their minds they are trying to connect the dots and theyare not able to connect the dots because it's devoid of God it's devoid of the word But you andI as believers we understand the nature of the word We have to know that we knowthat we know that God's word is truth We have to understand the integrity of the word and youdo that by understanding the author of the word who is God Numbers 23:19 says this God isnot a man that He should lie nor a son of man that he shouldchange his mind Does he speak and not act Does he promise and not fulfill These arequestions about who God is First of all we need to know and understand that God is not a manMan is capable of lying God is not capable of lying That's why it saysthat God is not a man that He should lie nor the Son of man that heshould change his mind We know that God does not change He's immutable He's the same yesterday today and foreverWe understand that when God speaks he acts We understand what God promises he fulfills because weunderstand who God is and we understand that God is not a man John 4:24 says Godis spirit God's divine nature is truth and faithfulness He is the truth He is faithful and he'sfaithful to his word When God speaks his words are powerful and they are effective Isaiah 5511 So my wordthat proceeds from my mouth will not return to me void empty useless without results but itwill accomplish what I please and it will prosper where I sent it Now notice thekey words my word my mouth will not return to me but it will accomplishwhat I please and it will prosper where I sent it This is why you have to know thatyou know that you know is God's word God is backing his word in this verse Godis saying my word is going to do what I sent my word to do That's whyhe got to ensure God's word and not man's word Because man is saying a wholelot of things that God said but when you go to the Bible you can'tfind out God didn't say it But the things that God did say in his word is gonna happen God'sword his declaration his promises are certain and they will achieve their intended outcomes and they will achieve his objectivesOftentimes we think the word is all about us No the word is about Godand what God said he's going to do So that's why it's important that we understand God's word Because whenwe study the word word now we understand what God's objectives are Now we understand whatGod's will and purpose are for our lives Now we have to attach our faith to it IfGod said it I believe it That's it period point blank I don't need further explanation God said itHe said he's gonna do it God's gonna do it Now I don't know when he's gonna do it Idon't know how he's gonna do it I don't know in what manner he's going to do it butguess what I know he's gonna do it Why Because the word says so The Bible saidthat God's word will not return back to him void empty useless and without results and itwill prosper where he sent it and it will accomplish what he pleased So as a believer I'mgood I trust his word because he's God Look at Psalm 33:9 for he Godspoke and it came to be He commanded and it stood firm Now this verse istalking about the solvent power of God's spoken word God spoke and it came to be When Godspeaks things happen and God spoke when he gave us his word So we have God's spoken word revealed inthe written word And when God speaks things happen He can open doors or he can close the doorHe can do these things because God is all powerful and His word has power Hebrewsthrough His word Deuteronomy chapter 7 verse 9 No recognize and understand therefore that theLord your God is God The faithful God who keeps covenant of loving devotion for 1000generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments The first word in Deuteronomy 79is no Recognize and understand that God is God the faithful God who keeps covenants who keeps promises for 1000generations but he keeps those promises and covenants to those who love him and keep His commandments Do you lovethe Lord Do you keep His commandments Then you can be assured you can know and understand and recognizethat the faithful God is going to keep that promise And he's gonna keep that promisefor 1000 generations meaning you might never receive the promise of God but your offspring will yourchildren's children's children's will Hebrews chapter 11 talks about all these great men that did all thesegreat things but then it said that none of them ever lived long enough to receive the promise of GodWe know that promise came through We know that the promise came to pass Whatkind of God we serve We serve a faithful God and his promises are to 1000generations for those who love him and keep his commandments God is faithful to his word not yourword Or another person's word God is faithful to his word and this faithfulness extends to those who love himand keep his commandments to 1000 generations Now 1000 generations is not a literal number It expresses God'slong-term faithfulness and his commitment to his people those who love Him and keep his commandments It could be 2000generations It could be 5000 generations Listen God is going to keep his word becauseGod is faithful Joshua 23:14 says this Now behold today I'm going the way of the truth andyou know with all your heart and soul not one of the good promises of theLord your God made to you has failed Everything was fulfilled for you Not one promise has failed Joshua reassuredthe people that everything God said he was gonna do he's done And that one good promise ofthe Lord that he's made to you has failed God has fulfilled every promise Not one has failed This isthe kind of God that we put our faith and trust in Not one of God's promisesin the scriptures have failed You can look at it from Genesis to Revelation Not one of hispromises in the scriptures has failed This is the assurance that we need to have when wego to the word of God We need to understand that God's word is reliable God's wordis dependable Throughout the scriptures we have proof we have evidence Therefore we can trust thefaithfulness of God and His word Not one promise has failed not one Isaiah chapter 40verse 8 says this the grass withers and the flowers fall but the word of ourGod stands forever The grass is going to wither The flowers are going to fall We see thatas the seasons change but the word of our God stands forever The word of God is eternal and theword of God is unchanging And this would be good news for us today because thisassures us of the certainty of God's word that God's purposes will ultimately prevail regardless of what's goingon in the world We think what's going on in the world is greater than the promise ofGod No God's promises are eternal and unchanging God's promises supersede whatever is going onin the world Whatever is going on in your life your situation your circumstance God's word is greater than becausethe word of God is eternal and is unchanging God said what he meant and he means what hesays The word of God has been tried has been proven Over time The grass the flowers they're temporary butthe word of God that stands forever is eternal Matthew 24:35 Jesus said the heavens and the earthwill pass away but my words will never pass away The things of this earth which are temporarywill pass away That's why you can't put your trust and faith in things of this world material thingsThey're temporary However the word of God is eternal The word of God is unchanging SoI'm gonna put my faith I'm putting my trust in the eternal unchanging word of the livingGod that's found in the scriptures The word of God is divine it is eternaland is greater than anything here on this earth It supersedes anything that man could come up with Psalmrighteous judgments endure forever The entirety of the word is truth from beginning to the endfrom Genesis to Revelation Oftentimes people want to pick what truth they want to abide by andwhat they want to discard No no no The entirety of the word is true from beginning to end Soas believers we have to believe it from the beginning to the end We might notunderstand it all That's why you got to read the Bible That's why you got to studythe Bible That's why you got to allow the Holy Spirit to come in to bring illumination to the wordBut our mindset has to be the entirety of the word is truth from beginning to endIf God said it that's what he means God is unchanging He's not changing his wordbased on the circumstances and the situation of what's going on in the world today His word is unchanging Thethings of this world is temporary but God's word will endure forever Jesus Christ embodies the truth of GodJesus said that he is the way he is the truth and he is the life John 14:6 Now knowswhat Jesus said knows what Jesus didn't say Jesus't say I am a way Hedid not say I am a truth He said no no I am the way I am the truthSo you hear the world talking about there's no absolute truth Jesus just said he is thetruth He is the absolute truth Here's the whole truth nothing but the truth And this is why we cantrust the word from Genesis to Revelation because all of God's word is truth Proverbs 30:5 says thatevery word of God is flawless it's pure it's tested it's refined like silver And he is a shield tothose who take refuge in him Every word of God is flawless It's pure tested refined likesilver meaning that God's word has been proven true and has been proven reliable throughout timeThis is why we can trust the word because the word has been tested It's been proven It's gone throughthe fire and it's still standing I many person that said the word is not true thatGod is not real that Jesus is a figment of our imagination They're dead and gone butthe word of God is still standing The word of God is still true The word of God is stillreliable It stood the test of time That's why we can rely on the word That's why wecan depend on the word because the word of God still has the power to transform lives todayMany have tried to discard the scripture They're dead and gone The scripture is still standing The scripture is stilltrue Like silver that's been refined in the furnace Psalm 12:6 the words of the Lord are flawlesslike silver refined in a furnace like gold purified seven times Silver gold in order forit it's worth to be proven It had to go through the fire It had to be purified 7 timesThat's why the word of God is flawless That's why it's pure It's been purified 7 times withouterror or imperfection Now biblically the number 7 means completeness and perfection So the word of God ishis divine completeness perfection and guarantee of the fulfillment of his promises found in the word The word ofGod has been tried it's been tested and it's come out like pure gold Purified 7 timesWe're laying a foundation to establish the truth and the integrity of the word of God God has revealed himselfto man through the written word the scriptures the Bible and the living word JesusChrist Every jot every title of the word is true It's been tried it's been tested and it has stoodthe test of time This is why we can put our total faith and trust in the scriptures Because itis the word of the living God Next week we're going to continue our studyof the word of God We're going to dive further into the scriptures to deepen our faith in theword of truth so that we can know that we know that we know that the word of God istrue It can be relied upon It can be depended upon I can put mytotal faith in the word of God because it's God's word and God is not a man thatHe should lie and we can trust the word With all the heart mind soul and strength Sountil our next believer's Bible assembly be blessed in Jesus' name
