welcome to the Believers Bible assembly welcome to the Believers Bible assembly today we will begin

a new study the truth about God as we continue in our teaching sound Doctrine

series listen and be blessed good morning and welcome to the Believers Bible seminar this is the day that the

Lord has made and we're gonna rejoice and be glad in it today we're going to talk

about the truth of God we've been on a teaching series about teaching sound Doctrine and we just completed

the truth about the Bible and today we're going to focus on the truth about God so let's open

our Bibles to Titus Chapter 2 Verse 1 but as for you Titus speak teach the things that

are consistent with sound Doctrine sound Doctrine like we said in a previous study from the beginning Satan's strategy has

been to distort the truth about the word and especially about God and who he is in the world and

in the church there are many disagreements about who God is many false doctrines distortions about

God exists in the world today they are in our schools are institutions of Higher Learning they're

being indoctrinated about atheistic views agnostic views about who God is and these views have also crept

into the churches we can't even come to Common agreement about who God is and what

his real plans and purposes are in the church and these false doctrines and distortions come from the modern culture

and they're reinterpretation of scripture and their reinterpretation of who God is it comes from religion like I

said the various views about God and who he is and that's being taught in

the seminaries and the schools of Higher Learning some of these false doctrines and Distortion come

from personal pain things that are happen in a person's life and the only person they can

blame is God and the lies of the false teachers today were inundated with lies

from false teachers about who God is but God has revealed himself clearly in the scriptures so

that's what we're going to do in the series of studies we're going to go to the scriptures

to learn about who God is and to debunk the lies about God there's so

many lives out here about God the purpose of these teachings is to Bunk the lies about God so

we're going to contrast the lies with the truth as found in God's word so that we may

understand God and strengthen our relationship with him so that's what we're going to do just like we

did in our previous study we going to contrast the lies with the truth of God's word We're not

gonna be able to cover all the last cuz there's so many but we're going to

deal with the ones that are running rampant in the world today in our institutions of learning and how

learning and in the churches so we're going to talk about some lies about God so let's deal with

the first lack God is distant from us he's distant and he's uninvolved many people believe that God

created the world and then abandon it see this is one of the agnostic views that God just created

the world and just abandon it and he's too busy he's too far away to

care about us personally he's too busy or too far away to care about anything that's going on in

the world today but what is the truth the truth is God is near God

is personal and God is involved God is near God is personal and he is involved God knows us intimately

and he desires a relationship with us Psalm 145 18 says that the Lord is near to all who

call upon him so if you think the Lord is distant if you think the Lord is not involved

could it be because of your relationship with him because the Bible says that the Lord is near to

all who call upon him and we know that if you call on the name of the

Lord he will answer so the Lord is not distant from us he desires to have a relationship with us

but you have to call upon it and how can you call upon someone that you do not know that's

why it's important that we get in the word and we learn about God we learn about the sovereignty of

God he's all-powerful he's everywhere present he's all knowing he's our Creator God is good

God is love God is faithful we go to the scriptures to learn about who God is so

we can't call upon him and be in relation ship with him and when we do this

James 4:8 promises this it says draw near to God and He will draw near to you

we have to draw near to God and the promise of the scripture is He will draw near to you

Psalm 41 45 18 says we have to call upon him and he will hear us so

you see who has to initiate the relationship that he is already established with us the reason

why God Appears distant and far from us because we're not calling on him we're not Drawing Near to

him we're drawing as far away from God as we possibly can like God can't

see us that God don't know who we are where we are she that goes back

to the Garden Adam and Eve once they send they tried to hide from God but how many

y'all do you can't hide from God so there's no need of hiding from him draw near to him and

when you draw near to Him He will draw near to you that's a promise in

the word Hebrews 13:5 are very familiar with that verse of scripture for God said I will

never leave you nor forsake you God said this I will never leave you nor forsake you another

translation says I will never leave you or abandon you this is God this is

a promise that God made to those that have put his faith their faith and trust in

him I will never leave you I will never forsake or abandon you so no God

does not distant from us he wants to be part of us he was a part of our life he

wants to be in a relationship with us we are the ones who have separated ourselves from God through

sin we are the ones there's trying to hide from God because of our sin but God said

I will never leave you nor forsake you so know God is Not distant from us he's loving

he's attentive and he's relational in our Bible Doctrine teaching about God we talked about why God created man because

God work to be in relationship with his creation because he's a god of love and he's not absent from

your life he is ever present Psalm 46:1 says this God is our refuge and

strength a very ever-present help in time of trouble he's a ever-present help in times of trouble

so in times of trouble what do we do we call on him in times of trouble

what do we do we draw near to him and we have the Assurance because he

said he'll never leave us nor forsake us and the scripture says that he is our refuge he is our

strength and he is an ever-present help in time of trouble in time of need so the lie

that God is distant from us it's just that a lie one of Satan's strategies is to get

you on an island to get you to think that you're not holler that you're all by

yourself that you got to deal with this situation you got to deal with this problem you got to

deal with the circumstance all by yourself there is no help for you there is no hope for you see

that's his lies that's a strategies but the Bible says that God is an ever-present help in times of trouble

so who you going to believe you're going to believe the lies of the devil or

you going to put your trust and faith in the ever-present god Who said that he will never leave you

nor forsake you so line number one and that we're going to bump this morning

is that God is distant from you he's a very present help in time of trouble in

time of need second lie and you hit us all the time God is angry he's

mad with you and he wants to punish you you know we are people say that

all the time God will strike you down see what does this come from this come from

a place of ignorance can I say that this morning ignorance in the sense of being

devoid of understanding of the scripture now what the devil does especially in this area like to

twist scripture because one of the things we do see in the scripture is a god of wrath but

understand the context of God's Wrath God's Wrath the context of God's Wrath is toward

the ungodly those who have rejected him and have rejected his son say and that's the only

God they talk about the guy that's angry to God just mad to God that wants to punish people

all of this is true but is toward the ungodly those who have rejected him

say but if it isn't if the scripture is not rightly divided people only see God as being

angry harsh he condemns and there's no way that you can please God because the standards are so high but

what is the truth that comes from scripture God is Holy he is merciful and

he's full of love God is holding meaning God has a holy standard say and he's not going to waver

from that standard he said be holy as I am Holy and we know and understand from previous teaching

that our Holiness only comes through our relationship with Jesus Christ apart from Christ we're like filthy rags

there's nothing good in us there's nothing redeeming in us that's why we had to be

redeemed but God is Holy and he has a holy standard that's set forth in his

word but he's also merciful he's a god of Mercy thank god he's a god of Mercy and he's full

of love God hates sin because he's holy God hates sin because it destroys people and

their relationship with him but God's desire for his creation is to save to restore and to forgive

let's get into the scriptures first John four Nate says that God is love God is love

the essence of God is love love is who he is that's an attribute of God he is love now

to the uninformed to the one who's divorced of knowledge of the scripture the confused right

now how can God be all these things at the same time because he's God he's God but the

nature of God the essence of God is love God didn't create us to be angry at us to be

mad at us to condemn us to send us to hell God created us because he loves us because

love is who he is we're the one that severed and broke the relationship that cause now the wrath of

God to be upon us but the essence of God the nature of God is love Psalm 103 8 says

the Lord is compassionate and he's gracious blow to anger abounding in love God is compassionate he's

full of grace slow to anger abounding in love that's the god of the Bible That's the

god of the Bible but that devil wants to distort this God so you will not be in

a right relationship with him he wants you to think every time you mess up God is going to get

you see God Is Gonna Get You he gonna he's gonna strike you down I don't know

about some of you all left that's why I heard one else coming up so until

I had a Biblical understanding of who God is I was afraid of God I was afraid of him

because I didn't know him but oh when I got to know about God and His compassion in his

grace and his love and his Mercy see that's why we've been Inseparable ever since it

doesn't mean that you won't stumble it won't mean that you won't fall but you know if you

do God is compassionate he's gracious he's slow to anger and he abounds in love

second Peter 3:9 is an interesting verse and it says the Lord is not slow in keeping

his promises as some understand slowness but he is patient with you not wanting anyone to perish but

everyone to come to repentance the Amplified Bible says God does not delay as though

he were unable to act and is not slow about his promise as some count

slowness but is extraordinarily patient towards you not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance

this is the god of the Bible he's patient with you oh Lord I know he was patient with

me he was patient with me because he's loving he's compassion he's gracious he's merciful he is full

of love he was patient with me he was patient with you why because he doesn't want anyone to

perish God is not angry and wants to punish people he's patient with you and

he doesn't want anyone to perish he doesn't want anybody to go to hell but you know what God

is so full of love so full of grace and mercy that if you want to go to hell he's

going to not allow you say Amen somebody because he done everything in his power

to reveal his will plans and purposes for your life so that you would have all the knowledge that

you need to make a decision to follow him to follow his son John 3:16 one of

the most famous misunderstood scriptures in the Bible because we can't grasp it we can't understand the fullness of

it because we don't understand the magnitude of God's love John 3:16 for God so loved the world

that he gave his only son you got one King James God so loved the world

that he gave his only begotten son what kind of love is this now you break that

word love down you understand it's the Greek word agape which is a sacrificial giving kind of love God so

loved because God is patient and not want anyone to perish God so loved the world that he gave sacrifice

his only son his one and only son that whosoever believeth in him shall not

perish but have everlasting eternal life because love is who God is and he has demonstrated his

love towards us by sacrificially giving of his son his one and only son but here's the condition that whosoever

believeth in him the son and his sacrificial death on the cross and the power of his resurrection whosoever believes

in him shall not perish Parish Eternal separation Eternal damnation from God he doesn't want that but

he wants them to have everlasting eternal life with him so God is just God is loving

he's holy he's merciful and is full of love listen we can't even grasp the depth of God's love that

he has for us God is not angry God does not want to punish people

when he wants to us to experience his love now let me go ahead and

put a pin in this right now before we move to the third point this morning because this

is how the devil has distorted the word love he has confused the word love and he got people thinking

in and out the church that loves means tolerance that love means ignoring and turning

a blind eye to sin and perversion that's in the world today no no no remember the god of

wrath we talked about he going to deal with that say and as Believers we love people enough to

tell them the truth see that's why he commissioned us to go into proclaim the word to All Nations

to all people that they make disciples say the first thing in disciple-making is got you have to

know the god of the Bible and you have to know that God is love and then when you

start from that point everything else just Falls in place now you won't be fearful of God now you can

put your trust and faith in God now you can depend on lean on and

rely on God and His word say because the the Angry God is gone in your mind you don't

see him as that anymore the guy that wants to punish people just for fun you understand that's not the

god of the Bible see again I'm keep stressing this over and over again you got to go to the

word to understand who God is and so many people have been hoodwinked Bamboozled them strand run amok because they're

getting their information about God from the world the world is never ever going to paint the picture

of God that's true that's why we have to know the god of the Bible who was holding

merciful and full of love Point number three the third lied us out there and there's many of them you

must earn God's love how many of y'all heard that one you have to earn God's

love you have to be perfect in order for God to accept you that's why the doctrine of

works the game salvation is so prominent say you have to work your way into heaven I'm just

trying to get in brother I'm just trying to make it to the Pearly Gates

sister I'm just trying to earn God's love and acceptance so he'll let me into

the kingdom but what does the Bible say the Bible says that salvation is a gift of Grace salvation is

a gift of Grace you cannot earn God's favor through works you cannot earn God's love through Works Jesus has

already paid the price through his death and his resurrection but you still got people out here thinking that

they got to work to get to heaven do you know what you're saying when you say that

and people say that you're not you what they're saying that what Jesus did on the cross wasn't sufficient what

Jesus did on the cross wasn't good enough that what Jesus did on the cross he didn't pay

the price for our sins or some say yeah Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins through

his death and his resurrection but II no no ain't no but I say I know but I but

I implies that you're trying to add to the finished work of Jesus Christ on the

cross ain't no but I you cannot earn God's love you cannot earn God's favor do works Ephesians

lest any man should boast and what is Grace Grace is God's unmerited favor we talked

about it so many times you can't work for it you can't be good enough

for it you can't there's nothing there's nothing that you can do accept accept the free gift of Grace is

free to you and I because Jesus Paid the price and if Jesus paid a

price you don't have to pay the price the price is our been paid it's like you going to

the grocery store and somebody said ma'am I'm take care of your your your bill here I'm gonna

pay it for it pay for it and they paid it and you turn around

and said no I want to pay for it again how can you pay for it again when it's

already been paid now this in the ultimate yeah might think I'm making this stuff up you actually got people

in the church y'all they're still trying to work trying to earn God's favor you know why they don't understand

Grace they don't understand Grace they don't understand the cost of Salvation if they only understood they would abuse

Grace see they think Grace is the license of sin we talked about that before the grace of

psoriasis and said oh I'm saved now so I can live how I want to live do

what I want to do and ask how I want to act no no no no no that's

not Bible grace if you fully understood the cost of Grace it cost God everything but it was

freely given to you and I how through faith faith in what the finished work of Jesus Christ on

the cross that's how we receive Grace that's how we receive God's unmerited favor so

you just walk in it you live it out but what if I Stumble get back up

what if I do something that I should have done confess it emitted critic forget it

get up and keep walking in the grace that you have received When You Believe say and

Grace is God's unmerited favor again you can't work for it you can't be good

enough for it so you got these work folk out here thinking they're going to work

their way into heaven and they going to be sadly disappointed because works not on get

you to heaven Grace will and the thing about this grace and God's mercy and

his love again Romans 5:8 says that while we were still sinners Christ died for us we don't

understand the magnitude of this verse we can't we just accept it and believe it the fact that we

were while we were still Sinners when we were still out there running streets when we still

like they're hauling and drinking and clubbing in you mean to tell me what I was out

there doing all that Christ steel die for me see you can't wrap your head

around that you just embrace it you accept it what kind of luck who would do something

like that a god of love o God of Mercy a god of Grace a god of holiness

see that's why I don't give up on nobody because I know if God can save

somebody like me with my past with my background with my baggage there's no one that's beyond not being able

to be saved but listen listen listen they got to desire it they gotta want it they got

their bleed just like you're not believe that Jesus Christ died for their sins then they'll

be able to receive that Grace see but that's when you think about it while we were still

sinners Christ died for you he died for me what we talked about this morning we talked about the

God of the Bible and how you cannot earn his love but the devil got you out

there thinking that you got to earn God's love and again that if you don't

dot every i and cross every t God's condemnation will be upon your life we're Romans 8:1

says just the opposite it says there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus couple

key words in this verse there is now right now right this very moment there is no

condemnation the word condemnation means no guilty verdict no punishments now right now there is

no condemnation no guilty verdict no punishment for those who are in Christ Jesus in Christ Jesus look

at what the verse says in Christ Jesus it doesn't say in church it doesn't say in

religion it doesn't say in a denomination what does it say for those who are in Christ Jesus

I mean that you're born again and you have a right relationship with him for those people there is now

no condemnation or guilty verdict or punishment but the devil got you thinking if I mess up I'ma lose

my salvation if I mess up God's grace is no longer part of my life is I'm if I

messed up see I'm going to be condemned I'm going to be found guilty and I'll

be punished see that's the LIE of the devil that you must earn God's love and if

you don't his condemnation will be upon in life we got to debunk these lies of Satan and the only

way you can do that is by knowing and understanding who God is from the scripture and

know that God is Not only love he is the originator of love love is a

fruit of the spirit we can love God we can love others because he first loved us last

scripture for today first John 4:19 and it says we love because he first loved us we

have the capacity as Believers to love others to love to love list the people who

Society has thrown away in turned it back on we have that ability to love because

God first loved us we have experienced and are experiencing God's love on a daily basis and because of that

we can love other people Now understand the word love don't mean put up with

foolishness don't mean tolerating sin but we can be patient with them we can love them through

it because God is patient and again a fruit of the spirit is What patients so we love

and have the capacity to love others because he first loved us Jesus instructed his disciples to love

one another as he has loved them and this kind of love defines the character of a True Believer

what kind of believer are True Believer and this sets us apart from the world because like I said earlier

you got the world and the church having the same definition of the word love that's a problem that's a

problem we should not have the same understanding of the word love that the unbelievers have

because they have a different different definition the definition is not based on God and his love see but whenever

the church in the world is a green on the definition of love we have a problem because the

guy kind of love that got they love the giving self-sacrificing love is what separates us

from the world and we can love like God loved because he is love and

he demonstrated his love to us first now we have the capacity to love other people

so receiving God's love is not based on human effort or performance or ability but by

his grace his unmerited favor so we debunked three lies about God today number one God is

Not distant and uninvolved but he is a very present help and he will never abandon us he will

never leave us or forsake us second line we debunked today is that God is not angry

and God does not want to punish people but his desire is for everyone to be saved and be in

a relationship with him that's God's desire and it breaks his heart when people willingly knowingly intentionally

reject him and his son Jesus Christ but for those who accepted the Sun God is not

angry with them God don't want to punish them he wants to bless them and number three the third lie

we debunked is that you must earn God's love no no no it is a free gift given to us

by grace for all those who have put their faith in the finished work of Jesus

Christ on the cross so listen we just starting to tear down these lies of Satan and the lies of

the false teachers that float down here about who God is and we're tearing them down and

review bunker them with the truth that's found in the word so the next time we get together

we're going to debunk some more lass of the absolute adversary as we continue to
