Welcome to the Believers Bible Assembly This is the day that the Lord has made andwe're going to rejoice and be glad in it Today we're going to continue our teaching seriesThe Spirit-led Life Previously we talked about the importance of following the spirit's lead and we talked about beingtransformed by the Spirit What I want to talk to you about is how does the spirit leadand transform us And the answer is the Spirit will always lead us to the word of God the BibleThat's what we're going to talk about today The Spirit of God whose job it is tolead guide and direct will always lead us to God's word John 16:13 says this However when theSpirit of truth comes He will guide you into all truth the full and complete truth for he will notspeak on his own but he will speak whatever he hears and he will declare to you what is tocome The Spirit will always guide you to the truth to the word That isthe Spirit's job The spirit is not going to lead you where he wants you to go for the scripturesays he will not speak on his own but he will speak what he hears And what is hehearing and who is he hearing it from He's hearing from the Father He's hearingfrom Jesus Christ And whatever he hears that he will speak because he's not going to speak on hisown And what he hears he's going to speak and declare it to you whatis to come And how does he do this Through the word The spirit will alwaysguide you to the truth to the word All truth comes from God and Godcommunicates His truth through the Spirit Proverbs chapter 30 verse 5 says this Every word of God howmany words Every word of God proves true He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him Everyword of God proves true John 14:6 Jesus answered I am the way and the truth and thelife No one comes to the Father except through me Jesus Christ is the way and heis The truth John 17:17 Jesus said sanctify them by the truth Your word is truth So I want toestablish upfront that all truth comes from God and God communicates his truth to us throughthe Spirit and the Spirit guides us to the Word This is an important aspectof what we're teaching today because if you disconnect any of these parts of the truth you're not going tohave the truth and it's the spirit's job to lead us and to guide us into all truthThat's why it's It's important that we are led by the Spirit and not by man's thoughtsand man's wisdom All truth comes from God and the Holy Spirit plays a significant role in revealingthe truth to us As we saw in John 16:13 the Holy Spirit's job is to lead and to guideThe Holy Spirit's job is not to force His job is to lead His job is to guide to God'swill and purposes that are found in His word He leads us he guides us he directs usHe doesn't make us he doesn't force his will upon our will He leads us to God's willand purpose for our life and that's found in the word If it's not inthe word it's not from God and it's not the truth Let me say that again Ifwhat you're hearing if it's not in the word is not from God and ifit's not from God it's not the truth That's why it's important for us to knowthe word for ourselves so that when we hear something we line it up with the word to see ifit's truth That's what the Bareans did in Acts chapter 17 verse 11 There's so many falseteachers out here that's misleading us using the word but if you don't know the word you will notknow whether or not what they're saying is so They master the art of manipulation The Holy Spiritis not a manipulator Go back to John 16:13 Whatever he hears he will speak TheHoly Spirit is not going to distort the word So if it's not found in the word it's notfrom God And it's not the truth The Holy Spirit's guidance is not just limited to intelligence Wehave a lot of people that can quote scripture but they just know it intellectually The Holy Spirit wants togo beyond knowledge and he wants to give us spiritual insight and discernment That is the key Alot of people have a knowledge of the word but they don't have spiritual insight and discernment The Holy Spiritjust does not want to just reveal knowledge to us He wants to give us spiritual insight and discernmentwhich will give us the wisdom that we need to make decisions in life That's the Holy Spirit's jobHis role is to illuminate the teachings of the Bible and to help us apply them inour lives The word illuminate means to bring light to He wants us to understand whatwe are reading He wants to give us wisdom knowledge spiritual insight and discernment when it comes tothe scriptures His job is to help us to apply that which we have understood from the word to ourlives John chapter 14 verse 26 but the advocate the Holy Spirit whom the Fatherwill send in my name will teach you all things and remind you of everything I've told you That's theHoly Spirit's job to give us understanding and insights into the truth of God and His word This is essentialfor our spiritual growth and maturity You cannot grow spiritually without the word We cannot grow in spiritual maturityWe cannot grow in wisdom understanding spiritual insight and discernment without the Holy Spirit leading us andguiding us into all truth The Holy Spirit's ministry is to teach us lead us guide us directus to the Word which was inspired by God 2 Timothy chapter 3:16 says this All Scriptureis God-breathed given by inspiration of God and is useful profitable for instruction for conviction for correction and fortraining in righteousness God has a purpose for revealing His word to us God has apurpose for the Holy Spirit's teaching guiding and leading us into the truth because all Scripture is breathed outgiven by inspiration of God and all Scripture is useful and profitable for us It is useful andprofitable for instruction It is useful and profitable for conviction It is useful and profitable for correction Itis useful and profitable for training in righteousness right living All scripture is breathed out by GodWe're talking about the divine origin of scripture You got a lot of people talkingabout how man created the Bible No they didn't We don't have the capacity to do itThey say this because they don't want to recognize the divine origin of the scripture because they don't wantto give that acknowledgment to God because they think that their human wisdom is greater than God But as Biblebelievers we need to know and understand no wonder all scriptures given by inspiration of God and that the scriptureshave divine origins and that the scriptures did not come from man but they came from God 2Peter chapter 1 verse 20 and 21 Above all you must understand that no prophecy of scripture comes from one'sown interpretation for prophecy was never brought forth by the will of man but men spoke fromGod as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit Let's break this scripture down and let's examine ita little deeper Above all serves as a reminder to prioritize the understanding of the natureof prophecy the revealed word of God in Scripture So let's look at that wordprophecy This phrase refers specifically to the prophecies both foretelling and foretelling contained within the holy scriptures in boththe Old and the New Testaments When you study the Bible you've got to understand how God operates God selectedmen who he would reveal His truth to and they wrote it down or they spoke it So we'retalking about prophecy We're talking about prophecy that came from God through the Spirit toman And what this scripture is emphasizing is the fact that no prophecy no revealed word of God inscripture ever came from the will of man There's two types of prophecies in the Bible You haveforetelling is primarily found in the Old Testament foretelling about future events specifically the coming of the Messiah andin time events So that's one form of prophecy The other form of prophecy is forthtelling F O R T H telling which means speaking forth the word of truththat has been revealed in the scriptures All prophecy must line up with the wordNo prophecy ever came by the will of man We need to understand this If thespirit's job is to lead us to the word and the word is truth andall truth comes from God Then what's being spoken what's being written must line up with the word Ifnot we are to reject it Now the prophecy in this context in this verseis talking about the proclamation of the word His will His truth These men spokeforth the truth of God's word to the people and either the prophecy was fulfilled or it wasn't Theprophecy has to line up with the scripture Let's go back to 2 Peter 1:20No prophecy of scripture comes from one's own interpretation When you're talking about scripture what are you talking about You'retalking about the divine authority and the inspiration that comes from God These writings what wasbeing said carried the divine authority and inspiration of God And it affirms that allscripture is God breathed What are we talking about today How the Spirit leads us to the word butwe got to understand the origin of the word We got to understand how we got the word howdo we receive the word And this scripture is saying it does not come from one's own private interpretation Thatthe origin of prophecy the origin of scripture is not from human insight or personal interpretation Noprophecy of scripture is to be privately or independently interpreted That's why we put so muchemphasis here in this ministry about being able to rightly divide the word because no prophecy of scriptureis to be privately or independently interpreted And that's what you got going on today Somebody reads a verseof scripture instead of rightly dividing it they just make up what they think thescripture should say And because it's done in church building spoken from a person with a title peopleassume that what the person is saying is truth when in essence all they did was takethe scripture flipped it turn it around and make it say what they wanted it to say Thepeople that heard the interpretation of the scripture did not do like the Bahrains inActs chapter 17 verse 11 They did not go back to the scripture to see if those thingswere so And that's why I'm sharing this message with you today because as we live moveand have our being in this world we need to know that we know that we know thatwhat we're hearing is truth because of the deception that's running rampant in the world today But here'smy point no prophecy of scripture is to be privately or independently interpreted No biblical prophecywere ever produced merely because someone wanted to prophesy That's not how it came So the questionis how did it come Men chosen by God spoke from God as they were carried along by theHoly Spirit The prophets those who spoke from God did not make up what theywanted to say They only spoke what God wanted spoken through the Spirit Amos chapter 3verse 7 Let's take a look at some scripture here Surely the Lord God does nothing without revealinghis plan to His servants the prophet That's how God set it up That's how he would reveal his realplans and purposes to man through the prophets And if you go into the Old Testament that's exactly what hedid He gave the word to the prophet The prophet said exactly what God said to speak He didn'tchange the words they didn't alter the words the prophet didn't add his 2 cents onto it Nono no no no He said exactly what the spirit led him to say Jeremiah 14:14 says this Thenthe Lord said these prophets talking about false prophets are telling lies in my name I didnot send them or tell them to speak I did not give them any messages They prophesyof visions and revelations they never seen or heard They speak foolishness made up in their own lying hearts TheLord said Listen I didn't send these prophets They're lying I did not send them or tell themto speak The prophecies and the visions and the revelations that they're giving you they've never seen they've never heardThey're speaking foolishness made up in their own lying heart and that's what's going on todayYou've got all kinds of foolishness being spoken out here today But here's the sad part the peoplearen't going to the word to confirm what they're hearing So these false prophets todaythey're leading people astray They're not leading them to the word they're leading them awayfrom the word to their foolishness that was made up in their own lying hearts Deuteronomyhim to speak or to speak in the name of other gods that prophet must be putto death Now this is an Old Testament scripture before the cross before the grace of God andthat was the penalty If a prophet dared open their mouth and spoke in God's name InYahweh's name and God didn't command them to speak or if they spoke in the nameof other gods the penalty for that prophet was death because their main intent is tomislead people Jesus said this in Matthew 24:11 In the last days many false prophets will appear and mislead manyand the proof and the evidence that we're in the last days we've got many false prophets falseteachers false pastors that are misleading many and they're being misled because they don't have knowledge of theword They don't have knowledge of the scripture Hosea chapter 4 verse 6 rings as true todayas it did when it was first spoken God's people are destroyed for a lack of knowledgeIt's because the priests those who had the responsibility of teaching the word were notteaching the truth of God's word Therefore the people were being destroyed You got to understand that'show God communicated His word through the priests through the prophets They didn't have a Bible like we have Theydidn't have none of the resources that we have today So the way God communicatedHis truth His word is through prophets through priests but they failed to do it Therefore the peopleof God was being destroyed and the same thing is going on today but today we have noexcuse Those who truly spoke from God were fully aware of the responsibility and the accuracy that accompanied theirprophetic ministries No true prophet of God is going to speak anything other than what theSpirit of God led them to speak and it can be confirmed and backed up by the word Who werethese men that God chose to speak for The King James says that they were holy men Itdid not say they were perfect men but they were holy men chosen by God They never spokefrom their human impulses They always spoke what God wanted them to say They never claimed to speak for themselvesThey always acknowledged that what they spoke came from God All through the Old Testament what you hear prophetslike Jeremiah Ezekiel and Daniel what would they say Thus says the Lord They want you to know thisis not me speaking this comes from the Lord The role of the prophet was not to speaktheir personal opinions but to only speak God's truth That's why the prophets are old Whenthey spoke what they spoke it cut to the heart When Peter gave that prophecy in thebook of Acts it cut to the heart and they asked him what shall we do tobe saved What the prophet spoke did two things Number 1 what the prophet spoke either calledpeople to faith in God salvation or number 2 what the prophet spoke was amessage that brought people back to God because of their faithlessness and disobedience When you search theBible from Genesis Revelation that's what you're going to see prophets doing You ain't gonna see no prophets talking aboutGod told me to tell you you're gonna come into some money God told me to tell you you'regonna get a husband in this new season this new year You're not gonna hearnone of that foolishness but that's what people want to hear That's why these falseprophets and false teachers are running rampant in the world today The Bible says that in the last dayspeople are going to be drawn to people who are going to say things that's goingto tickle their ears Nobody wants to hear the truth of God's word how to live right talk rightdo right be right Nobody wants to be corrected Nobody wants to be convicted Sowhen a true prophet comes he's going to speak what God wants them to say and he'salready done it through the scripture But the prophet had two roles either to lead peopleto faith in Christ or to bring them back Come on back brother Come on back sisterCome on back to the truth of God's word That was the role of prophet Not to speakforth lies that they created in their own heart So the role of prophet wasclear They only spoke what God wanted them to speak and they were confident ofwhat they spoke because they were following the leading of the Spirit as the prophets were carried along bythe Spirit The Spirit guided and directed their speech and their writings Nothing that they did wasof their own doing Because the prophets were moved they were guided by the Spirit's power that ensuredthe accuracy and divine authority of their messages That's why the Bible is just as true todayas it was when it was first written The word of God is just as powerful today asit was when it was first spoken because it came from God God used real people with realpersonalities with different vocabularies with different experiences different styles Yet the origin of every one of their prophetic messageswas God Himself God used prophets of different backgrounds different education levels to speak the word of God He usedAmos who was a sheep herder and he used Paul who was an intellectual Pharisee Whoever God chosetheir message was always connected to the truth of God's word revealed to them by the Spirit So let meleave you with this this morning The scripture is not the product of human imagination or privateinterpretation Prophecy always originates from God and is given through the Spirit Human authors spoke and theywrote under the guidance of the Holy Spirit Therefore the words of the Bible carry divine authoritybecause the writers of those scriptures wrote under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit rather than their humanthoughts their human philosophies or their opinions The verses that we shared today They speak and affirmthe trustworthiness and the divine origin of the scripture that was given to us by the Spirit Therefore wecan trust and put our faith in the word of God as the Spirit leads guides and teachesus today The Holy Spirit will always lead us to His word Amen
