The Phantom From 10,000 Leagues (1955)
A mysterious, man-sized monster kills a fisherman at sea. A Biologist and a Federal Agent discover a man's body, washed up on the beach and covered with radiation burns.
The stooges are stage hands who also have small parts in a big play. They quickly get on the bad side of the producer. First they fail to prevent a famous critic from sneaking into the audience. Then Shemp accidentally adds a pot holder into a cake they bake as a prop. During the play the stooges (as southern gentlemen) and the rest of the cast spit up feathers during what was supposed to be a serious scene. The critic thinks it’s a hilarious satire and the boys are redeemed.
The circuit judge lion delegates the job of trying the notorious bank bandit, Fowler Means, to Snagglepuss. Snag holds court in Loophole Mesa, a frontier town. After the prosecutor comes down with a case of lead poisoning -- from the bandit's bullet -- Snagglepuss has to take over his job.
Based on a true story, two-timing boozing wife Roxie Hart kills her lover in cold blood after he leaves her, and finagles her way out being indicted. The basis for Kander/Ebb’s 1975 Broadway musical and its Oscar-winning 2002 film adaptation.
