Dynasty Warriors origins of first entry in the series for this generation of consoles making the

graphics Leaps and Bounds better than the last Dynasty Warriors that released incorporating a number

of positive things that made Dynasty Warriors 9 good like the open-world feature Origins improved

on them this legendary Musso series takes two players back to feudal China as always and origin is the

part where the story ultimately begins it has HD graphics a banging sound track and voice acting I'll MIT

that I did play through the game with the Japanese voice actors I tried the English version

but wasn't really feeling it I enjoyed the the Japanese voice acting more however I did

see our friend Brent Makai was playing lubu fantastic job by him as always Dynasty Warriors

origin story shines as we learn the how and why of the future conflicts in the

Dynasty Warriors series Story by far was the highlight of Origins the developer opted to create a new character which

you get the name but is also referred to as Jalan had his own story that intertwined with the

factions that ultimately set in motion the events of the previous Dynasty Warriors disappointment said in knowing

that a very limited number of characters are playable outside of the main character however this does change

once you get to an end game content so it opens up up in previous Dynasty Warriors players had

the option to play as different officers or even create their own character so although it feels like a

downgrade it was necessary in order to tell our main character story where Dynasty Warrior Origins

excels is by humanizing the cast of characters throughout the story causing the main character to make difficult choices as

to who to support not only that but they did a really good job of the interaction system

and building relationships with people that give you a little tidbits of information that you

may not get if you don't build these relationships with these people so I definitely applaud them for that

system it made going through other than just the main missions and getting to know these people and

really unfold this story it really helped it to just kind of solidify in till that narrative

friends become enemies and enemies become friends as the story progresses through its chapters there were a ton

of twists and turns the story was absolutely fantastic it was very weird to Ally with lubu at one point

he's been my sworn enemy sent to jump off of the Dynasty Warriors franchise don't

worry lubu does what lubu does and I can say with certainty that eventually fighting him is the

hardest fight in the game I took a couple of hours and bang my head on the desk

before I finally prevailed as the story progresses the battles become more and more intense the developers do an

amazing job of creating epic battles and they do not disappoint the story consists of five chapters with each

chapter containing a number of cutscenes side missions and main missions at one point in

time your character zhi Lan is faced with a difficult decision on who to support which then pushes the

story in the direction you choose until the end there are three different people you

can choose from and other choices along the way that shape how your story ends Origins gives a

ton of context to the previous Dynasty Warrior games and the motivations of each faction and leaders that

we've come to know in total it took me about 60 hours to complete one storyline

however I played it casually and did a lot of side missions if you were aggressive you could probably finish

it in like 30 hours like its predecessor Dynasty Warriors Origins is an open world game a major

complaint from the community was that it took too long to it places if you

ever played Dynasty Warriors 9 you know the pain of riding your horse for like 30 minutes straight just to

get to your next mission the developers Mega Force directly address this issue by creating fast travel points

and making their traversal akin to Tiny Tina's Wonderland your character can quickly reach points of

interest resources and people with whom you can interact your character can walk on foot or speed

things up by hopping on his horse I appreciated the the in quotation marks open world

feel of the game but it's not a true open world game and I'm okay with

that huge open World Games become too overwhelming for me and majority of the time I never finished the game

so I was all right with there being some boundaries aesthetically the world is gorgeous

with different biomes for each region and a vibrant landscape the developers did a fantastic job of depicting China in

that time period Dynasty Warriors has successfully pivoted to the new standard of graphic Fidelity the

characters and costume designs were spot-on for the characters and factions from previous Dynasty Warriors beautiful Ed age to

fit the origins Universe from the moment the title screen dissolves Up the Music and Sound designer

once again iconic with newly designed callbacks to theme songs for our heroes and villains so if you've played

any of the other games you'll probably hear something that you recognize the combat is what

one would expect from a dinosaur the Warriors game with the changes in technology the

battles and origin are absolutely amazing from large-scale battles with thousands of troops utilizing strategies to

gain the upper hand in a conflict to one-on-one duels it makes origin stand out from its predecessors the

mechanics of Dynasty Warriors Origins are similar to previous entries in the series the simplistic button layout

makes the game easy for anyone to pick up and play the combos consists of primarily normal and heavy

attacks making them easy to execute coupled with the flash steam musou attacks made for a buttery smooth experience

there are a variety of weapons that your character picks up along the way as your character fights the weapons

earn XP and level up allowing for more powerful weapons to be acquired notably some weapons

from previous games were not playable leaving me a bit too satisfied I'm mainly talking about the

fans I don't see an axe in the game either I saw other people use them I wouldn't use

them did not get the maybe it's in the ultimate I'm not sure the main character also possesses an almost

third side ability that allows them to pinpoint magic see pods containing meat buns officer and information from across the

vast maps and see hidden passages it came in clutch trying to navigate the battlefields

using that ability leveling up your weapons unlock new abilities and continues Beyond endgame speaking of

endgame once you've completed this tour three a number of post game content opens up you can now restart

the game from specific points and replay any battle that you've already completed your weapon

proficiency can be raised even more with additional ranks opening up a new Ultimate Warrior difficulty opens up

with which contains challenges for the battles that rewards you with powerful weapons horses and other

rewards being on a deadline I wasn't able to try out that mode before I finish this

review so maybe the fans are somewhere within those challenges I don't yet another addition to the

post game content it's making lubu a playable companion when we playing Story battles actually it

makes anybody replayable as a character going through so that's fantastic addition to that end

game content and I'm not gonna lie I cannot wait to cut people down with lubu alright let's

talk about the elephant in the room the camera controls old though there is still a bit of clunkiness to

it the auto lock feature makes things a bit easier to navigate however there were still times at the camera

would go absolutely nuts unlike Dynasty Warriors 9 the RPG elements were greatly dumbed down or completely removed

Origins plays more like an action-adventure hack and slash as opposed to the hack and slash RPG heavy 9

with the in-depth story of Origins leaning further into the RPG genre would have been a lot of

fun to play Dynasty Warriors is a beautifully crafted hack and slash that it takes you back to the origins

of feudal China the story and environments were Rich filled with twists and turns that pit

friends against friends and turned enemies into allies Origins gives much-needed context to the franchise while engrossing players with

all the different personalities like most Dynasty Warriors the combat becomes somewhat monotonous but discovering new weapons and abilities

along the engaging Story made it hard to put down Dynasty Warriors Origins is a great entry point

for newcomers while pulling on the Nostalgia string of veterans a solid entry in the

Dynasty Warriors franchise
